XP will not install on Drive

Hi,
I hope someone out there can help me
I have a dell 600 XPS Desktop. I install Vista about two week's back.
Did not like it so I want to go back to XP. I try to install it and XP is not seeing the Hard Drive. So I'm thanking Vista is F-ing with the Drive so I used Boot Killer and format the drive. try to install XP agen and it's still not seeing the drive. SO I stick a new drive in and XP is not seeing that drive as well.

Did you have to do a BIOS upgrade for Vista? I know a lot of computers require one and then will not allow you to go back to XP. If you did, you may be able to reflash the BIOS with the old firmware, but as with all BIOS upgrades, proceed at your own risk as you computer may become unusable.

 

No did not need to update befor installing Vista

 

Do you see the drive in the BIOS?

 

Vista has many built in SATA drivers, so it can see the drive during install. XP does not have many, so certain SATA controllers require additional drivers on a floppy during install. You should be able to get the drivers from the dell support site-- only issue is whether or not you have a floppy. If you dont, you may have to integrate the drivers into the xp cd. if this is the case, post back and I'll link to instructions on how to do so.
