OK this problem is similar to what others have posted but not exact. Last night I did a no-no and used a registry wiper to take the "trial period" back to the begining on a certain DVD ripping program. (I've used it before with no problems). Anyway upon reboot I can't get to XP. It reports the system file is corrupt or missing and to try the recovery console.

So I put my XP CD in the drive and start the reboot process. It loads a bunch of files then goes to a blue screen stating it can't continue and I should do a virus scan or run /r from the recovery console. Well, I can't get to the recovery console. I can't boot in Safe Mode and when I boot using debugging mode it gets to the system.log file and stops again telling me "system" is missing or corrupt.

Any suggestions? I was running XP SP2 and all was fine before I used the eraser.exe file

Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions (other than "you shouldn't have done that");)
