xps630i cooling and temps.

Hello. Im new here but have been trying to find answers to these questions since I got my new computer.

I have the nvidia system monitor program and im not sure what the "mean" temperatures should be.

When I go into my nvidia control panel to look at the fan speeds they are always below 30% for the case and the gpu's.

Ive tried bumping them up higher but when i turn on my computer say the next day or later on the same day if it was powered down the fan speeds reset to the original.

Is there a good site which will tell me what my temps should be?

My system is:

E8400 core 2 duo 3ghz Intel
4gb ram(not sure of speed)
dual 8800gt in sli
Windows XP pro version 2

Im paranoid im going to fry something. I do no sort of overclocking at all but the temps displayed by the nvidia system monitor seem really high to me.


For example. With jsut this window open and no other programs running my temps are as follows.

CPU: 132.8F on both cores.

GPU:122.0F and 125.6F

Case:front 80.6F Rear 93.2F

Do these seem high? I went from a dell dimension 8300 with 512mb of ram and a single agp geForce 5500 256mb gpu to this machine.

Am I jsut being paranoid or should i be able to make the fans go faster without them resetting themselves?

seems fine to me...i was told by evga(manufacturer of my 8800gt) that 80C was too high for my vid card. Check your GPU temps while playing a game and see how hot it gets. Your cpu temps are fine as well, you can get a cpu burn in program to see how hot it gets also, but the cpu fan should ramp up the speed to accomidate for the additional heat. Same goes for the GPU, however, if you're not sure, you can get alternative programs to adjust your gpu fan speed. I use RivaTuner
