Yahoo Hijacking My Homepage

Sorry to have to start a new thread, however, similar threads are old and I don't think appy to my situation which is: This is on a Win 7 machine running Firefox ver. 26 browser. I cannot maintain my desired homepage (Verizon, News, etc.). Even my SuperAntiSpyware can't stop it. I also have an anti-hijacker add-on (Browser Protect) on my Firefox. I've also run a slew of malware programs with no joy. I truly believe this is NOT caused by malware, instead I suspect Yahoo has installed a "hidden" add-on. In very early versions of Firefox, you could pull up the browser in safe mode and delete ALL add-ons. Then you would reinstall those that you wanted. This did get rid of a Yahoo search page in Firfox ver. 4...a long time ago!

So, I think the same thing is going on with ver. 26, but you no longer have the option of opening Firefox in safe mode. So I need some help in getting rid of this hijacking by Yahoo! I appreciate any input...Thanks, dondd :confused

 

Thanks chaslang for the input. I've seen that page that describes resetting FF, but I've been timid about doing it. I'm out of town for a few days, and will do so when I get back. I appreciate your response and suggestions...I'll let you know how I make out. BTW, do you agree with me that this doesn't sound like malware perse? Thanks, dondd
