i have tried everything on this, including total image restore twice. my yahoo email login does not work, for one account only. i get 'page cannot be displayed.' does not work on any browser i download.
i have a junk yahoo account that works fine. i did receive a suspicious email from a paypal mimic, and clicked on the link inside accidentally. i am able to login to this account on any other computer but mine. as mentioned above, image restore did not solve, and dell customer support (?) has given up.
i also changed the password on this account but still does not work on my comp.
it is not slowing my computer down or having any other effects.

    any help is appreciated.

Sounds like an issue you should be discussing with Yahoo! But if you want to eliminate the possibility of malware problems, run thru the procedures below.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus RemovalMake sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem:

    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

yahoo wont discuss it because they can log in; the account works from other computers just not mine.

i will try your tools listed thanks!

Okay! You can try running thru the cleaning steps I gave you in my first message and we will see if there is anything visibly wrong.

Just install HJT as requested and run it. Select the Do a system Scan and save a logfile option. And save the log. Then attach the log back here to a message! Don't do anything else with it.

Please read message # 2 again. You must install HJT properly (you are running it directly from the ZIP file) and you must ATTACH logs. Inline logs will be deleted.

I see no real problems in you HJT log that could indicate a reason for your login problems.
You could try a temporary disable of the firewall in Win XP SP2 and see what happens.
Do not leave disable too long. You should get a real firewall install though as the on in XP SP2 is not really sufficient.

Check you Active X settings. Compare to your other PCs that work.

Other than that I would suggest you either ask for help in the Software Forum or you could try the Alternative Scans section of the READ ME FIRST to see if they find anything.
