    PC Specs

    XP Sp2
    Pentium D
2 GB ram but displays only 1.75 GB

Im having this kind of problem since last year. now i decided to reformat my PC and the problem still persist. The only solution i can get is to download old version of yahoo messenger.

Tried reinstalling. and clearing the YM registry still i get this problem

Anyone experiencing the same problem that has solution aside from using the older versions of YM?

Try this http://majorgeeks.com/Revo_Uninstaller_d5706.html , its called Revo Uninstaller, uninstall your old YM using this, follow the instructions properly and you should be able to remove everything from the registry too, then re-install new YM, let us know how it goes.

I already posted that this was a newly formatted PC basically it doesnt have any YM leftovers here. and i already tried that. Any other suggestion? Or am i only the one experiencing this. The only solution i can get is to download and use old version of YM

You should be running XP SP3
    support for SP2 ended 13 July 2010
    Source: http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?ln=en-gb&c2=1173
since you no longer receive patches and security updates, that might be causing problems, not only with YM but other programs as well.

Install SP3 and the patches first.

So the only solution is either use old YM version or update to SP3 to use higher version of YM

    Thanks

I'm unable to find the exact requirements for YM; it could be that one of the updates you did not receive because you are running an unsupported XP SP, is needed for the newer versions to install. (a windows component)

As an example, I run windows 2k on two computers. I know it is unsupported. If I try to update flash, I receive an error. Adobe says the last flash version that can be installed is v10.1.102.64
For some strange reason, I was able to install everything up to and including v11.1.102.55 with no error. I'm now stalled at that version because I'm running an unsupported version if windows.
