Yahoo Messenger Question

We have AOL Broadband (cable internet access). My son also has a screen name with AOL's parental controls. Because we have cable internet, AOL cam out with what they call Web Control. It prevents AOL uses with broadband from access Internet Explorer. If he tries to use IE, a little popup window asks for the master screen names password to bypass the Web Control. By doing this it gives my son COMPLETE access to the internet. NOT!!! With in the Web Control I can manually give him access to certain web site. We donloaded Yahoo Messenger so he can chat with school friends. Now for the question: I need to have the exact address for yahoo messenger so he can sign on. We can launch the program, but because of Web Control, it won't allow him to sign in. Any of you geeks out there know what the address(s) is(are)?Why does life have to be so complicated????????????????

Hi Dina, the addresses for yahoo's servers are:

# scs.msg.yahoo.com
# scsa.msg.yahoo.com
# scsb.msg.yahoo.com
# scsc.msg.yahoo.com

They also have a ton of others though, you might want to try those and see if he can do what he wants to okay. If that doesn't work, you can always send an e-mail to yahoo asking for step by step help. My other suggestion would to be to get rid of AOL (kinda kidding!) Hope this helps!

 

thanks, i tried those already and they didn't work. i will take your other suggestion and contact yahoo. as for aol, well my husband needs it for work
