    Hi,

I don't actually use Yahoo but since no-one else has offered any suggestions, I thought I'd throw a thought or two into the melting pot for you.

If I understood you properly, it's not only when you hide the fact that you're online, but also when you are actually signed off that you still seem to be online? Please correct this if I misunderstood.

It sounds like it might be a setting in Yahoo that's the trouble. Since MSN started using Live Messenger, I've found that there's something that saves your settings and transfers them to any computer you're logged into. I noticed this when I signed in on a computer of my own and discovered that the only thing I had for a user name was my first initial. I had created a profile on a friend's computer that I was helping out with, couldn't be bothered typing in my full usual MSN name so just used my initial. This got transferred to my computer which uses an older version of MSN. I hadn't known this would happen and I was wondering if perhaps something of the kind may be happening for you. Although if I got it right that you are appearing online even when you're offline, I can't imagine anyone would put in a setting to do that.

Have you checked right through every single setting available to you? It may be that one of those two computers is running a different version of Yahoo that has a newer set of features or simply that one of them has a setting needing changing.

You definitely seem to be on the right track in your search for an answer. It seems unlikely that the solution is with either computer. Although if a setting is available to do this transferring of information, you may try clearing the cache on both computers as soon as sign in for a couple of days and see if that solves the problem.

And if your friends are getting cross with you, have you thought about telling them that you've posted on a forum for help and pointing them to this thread? It should take the heat off you then.
