    Dear Major Geeks,

I'm not sure what this problem qualifies as but I'm thinking it might be Malware related.

The problem is if I go to Yahoo.com to search and then try to click on one of the items yielded in that search, if I mouse-over the link instead of seeing the actual url I see "http://rds.yahoo.com_ylt=" followed by a really long string. If I click on the link it redirects me.

But, if I go to another search engine like Google.com, there is no problem on mouse-over but if I click on the link I'm redirected. I have reset my internet settings to their defaults. Did a search of my programs and found no weird add-ons. Have run spysweeper to remove any malicious items.

If you have a link with some answers it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks-
    CR

Where does it redirect you too?

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
      • Bitdefender
      • Panda Scan
      • HijackThis

    Hi again,

I was getting redirected to various sites. I followed your instructions and this morning installed and ran Ad-Aware SE Personal. It detected a ton of problems which I quarantined and removed. I reset my browser settings to their defaults. Everything seems to be working fine now.

    Thanks!
