Yahoo ???

I can't go to anything Yahoo...not my homepage...my email....nada !!! What is up with that ??? It has been maybe 3 -4 weeks since I have seen my homepage...did I miss something???

Hi

Which browser are you using (IE, firefox etc)?

Are all other webpages opening up ok?

Quick thing to do is to download CCleaner and run its cleaner tool to delete internet temps/cookies and general temp folder in Windows (this will remove any auto logins to websites you have setup, so you will have to re-logon with user and passwords again)

My broswer is Firefox. I am afraid to download any type of cleaner...as the last time I did I screwed up my registry and had to pay big buks for a home visit to fix my computer. I promised my husband and computer guy I wouold never do that again. I did phone my ISP and after a lengthy trial and error session he still wasn't able to help me connect to Yahoo. He said I had to daisable my firewall but wasn't able to tell me how to do it.

Ok you downloaded some dodgy cleaner or your puter guy is a scam artist.

First thing to try, open Internet Explorer and see if you can get to yahoo from there, if you can then it's a firefox problem. If not.......

As Halo said, download Ccleaner, install it, run the cleaner and run the reg cleaner (under tools) I've been using it for a long time and it's never done anything but good.

It does sound like you simply need a clean up but if you are still having problems or you do something wrong (I have no idea what you could do wrong in Ccleaner if you stick to the CLEANER part of the prog) then just come back on here instead of calling rip off computer cleaner guys.

Man that gets me, I'm going into the the PC business now I have a work permit. the guy in town here charges like $120 for a virus cleanup, WTF? open a prog, let it run and charge $120? Hell I will be charging about $150 for a custom build and windows install (not including parts obviously lol) why? cos it only take about 3 hours. Callout cleanups etc, $80 per job including callout and upto 3 hours work, no fix, no fee.

Also these guys make sooooooo much profit on parts, I needed a 56k modem for someone a couple of months back, the guy in town wanted $85 for one! I got one from online store for $24 including shipping!

Be careful not to let puter fixer guys baffle you with jargen and tell you crap that doesn't matter and don't let them charge you huge amounts for cleanups.

Come on here, I know 1 or 2 things but some of the guys on here.....what they don't know about puters ain't worth knowing.

What sort of error do you get?

Trust us, CCleaner is safe and when you clean the registry it asks if you want to make a backup. Of course you always say yes. I have it running on 5 computers and I have never had to use one of the backup registries it creates but I still always say yes.

Have a look in C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\etc
and click on hosts to open it in notepad or write.
Is there any listing for ca.yahoo in there? If so place a # in fron of the line that may read 127.0.0.1 ca.yahoo.com
What this does is comment out the line so your computer ignores it.
