    Hello,:wave

I had a virus enter my system and affect my C:\Window\System 32\Drivers\... While my antivirus grabbed them and moved them to the vault it seemed that the damage was done. I've made sure my system is clean, however, I'm having various problems. I lost my internet connection and while I've managed to get that back I still have alot of yellow circles with exclamation marks next to the list under network adapters, only one went away after I uninstalled the rest will not unistall. I also lost my stand by option for turning off the comp. it's grayed out along with all of my options in the sounds and audio devices properties. There are many yellow circles with exclamation points in the device manager and I'm not sure what to do.

The biggest problem however is that I've lost all sound. I made sure it wasn't muted, checked speakers along with headphones, when I go to its properties everything is grayed out, I also went to the device manager uninstalled everything under sound, video and game controllers then did the add new hardware wizard. Most of the yellow marks went away, but still no sound. I went to the Windows Audio Service and made sure it was set to Automatic and Start was checked. Now, I'm at a loss!:confused

If anyone could help I'd really appreciate it. I have Windows XP Media Center Edition SP2 and am attaching my Everest report.

All your original drivers are at this link:
    http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGCRA820G

Start with the motherboard (chipset) drivers.
You probably should uninstall your Realtek audio, through Add/Remove Programs, then try reinstalling it.
Any other missing drivers, won't need to be uninstalled.
I will not be back 'til later tomorrow, so if you have any other problems, just be a little patient.

I have sound!!!!! Thank you so much!

All the yellow marks relating to the sound are gone, and everything is working there, thanks to you.
My display and network adapters, floppy disk controller, modems, ports, Microsoft System Management BIOS Driver, and Terminal Server Device Redirector still have the yellow. I wasn't sure about downloading anymore from the Sony site without asking you if that is how I'm supposed to fix it. The last thing I want to do is make it worse.
Also, my computer has been very sluggish since all this happened and the scrolling down the screen is terrible. Any thoughts on how I could fix this? I didn't know if I needed a registry cleaner or what.

Again, thank you so much for all your help!

Your PC is a Sony isn't it?
This is what Everest shows as your PC: Sony VGC-RA820G
You should be able to grab all the missing drivers there at the the link I gave you.
    Start with the Original drivers.

If you are wary about installing the wrong one, just set a System Restore point first. Then you will be able to undo a wrong driver.
(Usually, a driver install will give you an error, without actually installing, if it is not the right one for your PC.)

Did you install the motherboard driver?
    Make sure get that installed.
These should be included with that driver: floppy disk controller, ports

Install these others: display and network adapters, floppy disk controller, modems

I don't see these 2 drivers listed (Microsoft System Management BIOS Driver, and Terminal Server Device Redirector)
I will have to look into those a bit.

Okay...the floppy disk controller and ports were fixed once I uninstalled them and then ran the add hardware wizard, those marks are gone. The screen works great once I installed the display adapters, that mark along with the one for modems is gone. However the network adapters marks remain. I installed the one for network, still have internet connection, just can't get rid of the marks. Am I missing something?

Except for the marks under network adapters and the two I had listed under the system devices (Microsoft System Management BIOS Driver, and Terminal Server Device Redirector) that seems to have taken care of the rest of them.

Thanks again for all your help!

Try scanning for Hardware Changes, while in Device Manager. That may take care of the Network driver.

Sorry to bother you again, but I had the viruses attack my drives again. This time I had someone from the malware forum help me get rid of it. I started reinstalling my drives like before, however there is a new one I don't know what to do with. The Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator under System devices now has a mark next to it. Also, I have no sound again. I've intalled their drives and it shows that they are functioning properly, but when I searched online they said it may be due to the Plug and Play problem. Any advice?
