Your Account Settings Are Out-of-date In Mail Or Calendar For Windows 10

I just got the above notice today. I use yahoo email on my desktop and I'm scared to do anything that might interfere with it. I started to do the update but then saw I had to consent to allowing Windows 10 full access to my email, plus some other stuff. I'm perfectly happy with the way things are now! Why would I sacrifice my privacy - what do I get out of this? Will my email get messed up if I don't update? I did the update when I installed Windows 10 during the free period; isn't that enough?

 

This started with me too maybe a month ago but with Gmail rather than Yahoo. If you are concerned then remove your Yahoo account from Mail and manage it in your browser. I don't like it much either but I do find Mail really suits my way of working and would be reluctant to switch to using a browser or my longtime favourite, Thunderbird. I haven't experienced any problems with letting it fix my settings but hope to find out a bit more about what has been changed by MS and why.

 

These two posts explain it all. I recommend you do as requested as your Yahoo mail won't work otherwise. Or you could switch to using a browser, as I said.

 

Oooooh, I guess I won't express my political opinions in emails anymore. It smacks a bit too close to Orwell's "1984." I'm sure I wouldn't be at all interesting to Big Brother in normal times, but these are far from normal! Thank you very much for your answer and I will follow your advice, making the change.
