Television has deteriorated to a level that it is hard to pick any top shows.
Here in Belgium we are inundated with US soaps(Greys anatomy,Bold and the beautiful,(i never new that Ridge could speak dutch.).Days of our lives) and so on,as for our home grown shows they consist of predominantly reality and cooking so called entertainment,it continues to dumb down to the lowest common denominator and lowest cost so it is mostly drivel.
I like the discovery channel and old movies (but then i am old) but i am hard pressed to pick a show that i would specifically look forward to watching.
As for the music reality shows they are only on there to give the false impression that anyone can be a mega rich pop star.
Sorry if i sound like a grumpy old man.

When I get around to turning the tv on ;)
I like Mythbusters, Frasier, A lot of movies.
But that is when I decide to even turn it on, or remember it's there.

Regular cable tv here in the US has deteriorated also, imo. Thats why we're paying for HBO, Showtime, The Movie Channel, Cinemax + Netflix.

All that and still not much on worthwhile.
    :-D

Unless watching the NHL or NFL counts... I'm like Spock. If someone else doesn't turn it on, it doesn't occur to me that it exists.

    Hmm... So much TV.

Royal Pains, Leverage, Warehouse 13, Rizzoli and Isles, Franklin and Bash.

There's also Eureka, but it's ending, which is terribly sad, because it's AWESOME. Army Wives is good. In Plain Sight just ended.

And don't feel too bad Bill, we get a lot of reality shows. And Grey's Anatomy isn't a soap. Can't be. It's actually entertaining. ;)

Not much anymore. My three favorite shows were cancelled (House, Make it or Break it & Ringer) and my other two favorite shows have been going seriously down hill for this past season (The Office & Gossip Girl). My final two shows are on hiatus (The Lying Game & Switched at Birth) so really have nothing to look forward to until they come back.

In the down time I am kind of partial to shows on A&E, I really like Parking Wars, The First 48 & Criminal Minds (although some parts are too graphic for my liking with Criminal Minds).

I still like The Office but it is getting old. Shameless is the best, SNL(sometimes it's good, sometimes not). I will watch Ellen because my wife DVR's and is usually watching it when I get home from work.
    And hockey.
I was watching Ringer regularly, I didn't know it was cancelleld. They can't leave that family in a mess like that.

    I'm with you, sir.

I too am a fan of channels like Discovery, Science, etc. more so then the traditional network channels. I do like The Big Bang Theory . . . it tends to be pretty funny (the fact that Kaley Cuoco who plays "Penny" is as cute as a button helps ;) ) . . . but in essence it too is just mindless entertainment.

@dyamond I watch Parking Wars now and then, too. Makes me want to never have to park in Philly . . . :-D Go get em', Garfield!

The Office is just so bad now, everyone seems to agree, I mean just look at the comments on their Facebook page. They should have ended it when Steve Carell left. He was the epitome of The Office. Now, it just idiotic nonsense which I feel obligated to watch because I've invested so many years into it. I've only laughed once this season, when Andy and Erin started thowing things at Nellie (who is awful, I really can't stand her) and Andy punched the wall and the only reason that was funny was because it was reminiscent of what The Office used to be. It's like a train wreck, horrible to look at but you just can't stop watching. As for Ringer, yea I was sad too, I wanted to see if Bridget and Andrew (who will always be Horatio Hornblower to me LOL) would get back together and what will happen with Siobahn and the twins!!

The stupidity of people is what really cracks me up about that show but with that said, I would not want their job.
