Youtube Overlay Buttons Won't Go Away

Recently I am having issue watching videos on the youtube app. The overlay (pause, rewind etc) buttons won't go away and the screen is darkened. I am on a Samsung Note 9.

I have seen some previous threads about this, which haven't resolved it for me. There is nothing under my accessibility settings for 'switch access'. Regardless, most of the options under my accessibility settings are switched off, and I've never changed nor accessed these since I got the phone. This issue started around 2 months ago.

One previous person suggested I Go to settings, display, then apps for fullscreen, find youtube and set it to fullscreen not auto. When I got there ALL of my apps were set for fullscreen, with no option to change them anyway.

My system and apps are up to date, in fact it began after an update a couple months ago.

Some other threads mention an 'X' option somewhere on the screen, which should allow you to close the menu, but I don't have this either.

I also went to Settings, looked for Apps, then found the YouTube app and cleared the data and the cache.
    To no avail.

It won't let me delete it and reinstall it. Like it's now, with this phone, never with previous phones.... came as a system app with the phone. and UNinstallable.

    Can anyone advise?

    Linda

I own four android devices (3 tablets and a phone - Samsung Tab A's and a Samsung j3 Emerge) but I have never used the YouTube app. I prefer to launch YouTube videos through a browser, normally Firefox. I do ftom time to time use the Samsung browser.
Try that and see if those buttons disappear. If it works, at least it is a workaround until your issue is resolved.

I clearly see an X at the lower right of your screen shot, between the time and the screen size icon.

Glad I was able to steer you to the X!
You aren't alone in missing things. I've done the same thing on more than one occasion.
