I've gone through the Read & Run Me First in its entirety and have not been able to remove the YTD Toolbar v6.5. I still have the Yahoo toolbar at the top of firefox and the address bar search is yahoo instead of google. Also Chrome

Here is my MGTools.zip. I appreciate any help. Thanks in advance

I meant to delete the words "also Chrome" above. I don't believe I am having any issues with Chrome. It is firefox where the issues are. thanks

Then please attach logs from Hitman, Malware Bytes and RogueKiller. Thanks. :)

Rerun Hitman and have it delete the following:
    • Potential Unwanted Programs

    Delete this file.
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins\babylon.xml

    Delete these folders:
    C:\ProgramData\Babylon
    C:\ProgramData\Browser Manager
    C:\Program Files (x86)\YTD Toolbar

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    • R3 - URLSearchHook: YTD Toolbar - {F3FEE66E-E034-436a-86E4-9690573BEE8A} - C:\Program Files (x86)\YTD Toolbar\IE\6.5\ytdToolbarIE.dll
    • O2 - BHO: YTD Toolbar - {F3FEE66E-E034-436a-86E4-9690573BEE8A} - C:\Program Files (x86)\YTD Toolbar\IE\6.5\ytdToolbarIE.dll
    • O3 - Toolbar: YTD Toolbar - {F3FEE66E-E034-436a-86E4-9690573BEE8A} - C:\Program Files (x86)\YTD Toolbar\IE\6.5\ytdToolbarIE.dll
    • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SearchSettings] "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Spigot\Search Settings\SearchSettings.exe"

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

    Hi Kestral

Thank you so much for your help. I've followed everything in your instructions and did not have any problem doing it all.

Unfortunately, I still can't seem to switch the yahoo toolbar back to google or to change the address bar search back to google. When I try to modify the keyword url in about:config to google, it does not change when I click ok, it still shows

    http://search.yahoo.com/search?fr=greentree_ff1&ei=utf-8&ilc=12&type=937811&p=

Attached is the new MGlogs.zip file. Let me know if there is something else I can try. Thanks

Can you show me with a screenshot what the issue is? Thanks.

Thanks, It is the quicksearch box just to the right of the url address bar at the top of firefox. It has the Yahoo! Y logo with a down arrow. When I click the down arrow and select any other browser, it doesn't work and just stays on Yahoo. Also when I click manage search engines and remove Yahoo, it immediately comes right back.

Similar situation with the address bar search. If I go to about:config and scroll down to keyword url, I can rightclick modify but whatever I type into the pop up does not change the yahoo url I posted below, it just doesn't change it like it should.

I'm not sure if a screenshot would show you much more but I can give it a try if it would help.

I found another thread where this person seems to have used combofix and revo installer which looks like it worked for them

    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=267482

should I try one or both of those?

Hmm, not sure. This is not really a malware issue. Can't you just uninstall the YTD stuff altogether and opt for something similar? (I use Download Helper)
