    I have the z-connect dialer problem. After a minute or so of using any type of dialup connection (including tethered blackberry) it disconnects and tries to reconnect using z-connect.

    I followed the run & read me procedures to the best of my ability...

    Root Repeal crashed...

    Attached are the other logs.

    Thanks in advance!

    Let see if this helps.

    Comment -
    Ad-Aware
    is becoming useless in detecting and removing malware...SAS & MBAM are far better tools.

    Please refrain from making any changes to your system (updating Windows, installing applications, removing files, etc.) from now on as it might prolong handling your log and make the job for both of us more difficult.

    Please use add/remove programs to uninstall:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    * If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    Driver::
    tbblkbrk

    File::
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\inhu.sys

    Folder::
    c:\setup
    c:\c
    c:\f
    C:\NEXT

    Registry::
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\active setup\installed components\{67KLN5J0-4OPM-33WE-AAX5-34KC2A3453431}]

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\active setup\installed components\{67XOR2B0-3GMC-89VV-JIJ1-32KL2R3233771}]

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\active setup\installed components\{67XOR2B0-3GMC-89VV-JIJ1-32KL2R3423321}]

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC}]

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    If it asks you to overide the prvevious file with the same name, click YES.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\ComboFix.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Ok...

    I followed the directions... but I don't have my cord to tether my blackberry with me so I don't know if I can use that dial up connection. I'm using WI-FI while I'm out of town, but I'll try to find a cord. However, since running all of the run & read me steps my desktop shortcuts, start menu links, and quickstart menu don't work. The only way I can run program is through the program files folder or by using start\run.

    I uninstalled adaware and the JSE file. I had no problems with MGtools either time, but Combofix froze the first time I ran it after it tried to update. I shut down and ran it again following the directions again and it worked.

    Logs are attached.

    Thank you so much for trying to help!!!

    I am not seeing any malware in your logs. Let's see what BitDefender can find:
    Using BitDefender Online Scan.

    Did you uninstall McAfee, as I don't see any AV program in your add/remove list.

    I did uninstall McAfee and installed Avast. I must have ran the logs before I got it installed.

    I normally use Firefox and when I tried to run IE to run BitDefender it froze up and will not let me do anything. IE appears to be completely unuseable.

    Also, the z-connect dialer has not reappeared yet. But I borrowed a cord from a friend and I still can't connect through the tether.

    I still can't use shortcuts or start menu program buttons. I can't download any clipart into Word. I didn't have these problems before all of the run & read me virus scanning so I'm wondering if my computer was so infected that it had to clean files these applications needed to work. I'm not really sure what to do now.

    Nothing in the scans or what I asked you to remove would cause these issues. However, please go to start / run / type "sfc /scannow" without quotes and have your xp disc handy. Run it at least twice. Let me know how that goes.
