    Guys,
I have a P4 Prescott 3ghz running at 55C idel and 63-68C load. I have a coolermaster Praetorian Case with two intake fans at the front, one exhaust at the back and I switched the intake at the top into a blowhole. Case temp is 30-35C. I heard good things about the Thermalright xp120 so I got one and its OK but I was wondering if the Zalman would be a better choice? I use AS5 between the cpu and Heatsink. I see on an earlier post people have been getting lower temp.s with prescotts using the Zalman. The Zalman comes with a fan, the Thermalright dosn't, but they are both about the same price.

    What do you think?

I have the Zalman. It took MY prescott down from mid 60c. down to mid 30c at load.
I attest to it's "silent" operating mode. I can't here it, and barely when up to it's highest rpm setting. Good product IMO.

I don't know about heat pipe coolers but I'm weary to set one on any of my mobo's, that's a LOT of stress for the board. My zalman does it for me.

Yeah I saw that Zalman, but the fan is 92mm instead of 120mm. Wouldn't that mean it dosn't cool as well. The Thermalright I have know also has a 120mm fan. The CNPS7000B-CU is also cheaper than the CNPS7700-CU, although I know more expensive dosn't always = better. The smaller fan is faster, but I thought bigger was better when it came to case fans?

Always look at the CFM measurement, not all 120mm fans pull the same CFM. The larger the quieter the fan, and yes more air is moved, but if you are concerned about weight like I am, Id go with the Zalman 7000

If you really want to cool a prescot then you should be looking at this. It cost me 85$ au and beleive me it was well worth it.
Do not be fooled by its size. It is extremelly light in size and very quiet...

:D Yea I looked at the Zalmans, but you have to look at there list of InCompatable motherboards, it is a pretty large list, did not fit my board.

I am going with this one, heard from freinds and store by the house that this will help me out alot.

Thermaltake Xaser III i have it posted under moding case section. It was so close to fit that cooler in though. The 2 exaust fans are virtually milimeters away so i hat to turn it around the other way. Just fited in. I got a fanless heatpipe vga cooling as well to overclock my dying card and temperatures went nicely down. The core of the card was 250 and memory 200 which is now sitting on 420 - 225 in respectfull order. Lucky the fan that was blowing on to the vga helped a bit too. As for the prescot though its about 18 degres and does not exceeed 40 on the hottest day in a non airconditioned room. Case however gets to about 32 max.
Next week hopefully im moding the case a little bit more and getting the hardcano 13 *drools* complimented with blue leds from my keyboard, mouse monitor and just about everything i can think of that uses leds to match the blue neons in the case. Should be fun!
These two coolers though are very impressive i must say. 9/10 and being i give it a 9 is simply because it might need some readjusting around the case. It is both compatiblle for intell and amd as well.

forgot to add the temperatures used to kick of about 20ish and would go to as high as high 50's sometimes 60. its dropped it down quite significally.
