Just installed ZAP latest version on my new Toshiba Laptop. I installed it first before any other programs.

In the windows task manager, i notice that Zlabs "VSMON.EXE" uses a lot of cpu usage. I know ZAP needs to run and monitor, but it seems that it takes over a minute or 2 to 'work itself out' and settle down. Not sure if this is normal, or if there may be a conflict or 'hang' going on.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks. stevo

Seeing as how no-one has replied, as yet, I use ZA free version,
I can only think that it maybe takes this time as a fresh install first up.
Has it settled down lately or does it still take a lot of time?

Have you bought the Pro version, or are just free trialling it?
You only have a short trial period for ZA pro and will have to buy it, or revert back to ZA free version.

I don't notice any lag in ZA free and have been using it on many different PC's and different releases, over many years.

Hope someone can come up with a more definitive answer for you. Bazza

How much RAM do you have?

    Thanks for responding.

I have a Toshiba Laptop, Tecra M5 with 1 gig of ram, 100 gbHD, intel core duo processor. Brand new.

I had been using Zapro full version and even when i installed it first when i got the new laptop (same problem was happening on the old one) before installing all the other software i use, i still got the lag because of zap. To Clarify again. I'd open a program, or do something, and everything would freeze for about 20-30 seconds, then the red ZA box would finally pop up and ask if i wanted to allow or deny. Once i clicked the box, everything went back to normal til the next time...

    Thanks.

To follow up, since i was still having issues, i just stopped using it and uninstalled it. I was using MSofts basic FW and NOD32 for Antivirus. I re-downloaded the free ZA program to give it a try again, without using the Pro version and will see if there is any difference.

    Thanks,

    stevo

Only guessing, but did you have ZA Pro with anti-virus running, at the same time as NOD Anti Virus? If so, maybe this is the cause of the conflict.

Another thing, Toshiba Tecra's usually have Norton Anti Virus pre-installed.
Maybe you had 3 trying to run at the same time. :p

I have a Toshiba Tecra A7 and it came with Norton AV pre-installed.
That was the first thing I got rid of. ;)
I then installed ZA Free version and Avast (anti virus).
No problems with this combination, for me. :) Bazza

PS: I would also make sure that the MS Firewall is turned off, and use ZA free instead, as MS Firewall is only a one way firewall. That could also have been a conflict if you tried to run 2 firewalls at once. Baz
