My OS is XP Pro and I recently installed Zone Alarm. The problem I'm having is that after being on the internet and then leaving my computer on the desk top for a couple of hours (actually not sure how long), I can no longer access the web. The message I get is "server not found". This is using either IE or Firefox. To rectify the problem, I either must reboot or temporarily shut down Zone Alarm. This occurs using either ZA free edition or ZA Pro.

Did you disable the windows firewall?

Post your ZoneAlarm Log. This should be located at %windir%\Internet Logs\ZALog.txt. Note that ZA starts a new log every day, so make sure the error has occurred at least once (or post one of the archived logs, they are in the same directory and have a date in the filename).

Windows firewall has been disabled. Where do I go to find the ZA log info? I located file in ZA but was unable to copy.

Just post the c:\windows\internet logs\ZALog.txt file, but make sure your internet has failed today, else there will be no record of it in the log.
If this is the case, post yesterdays log. (Probably ZALog.2006.09.12.txt in the same directory)

Sorry, but I've tried to get this info thru run and search with no luck. I have access to the log in ZA. What do I look for there?

My ZoneAlarm, has a Menu called "Alerts and Logs". Under the "Main" tab, there is a section called "Event Logging", which needs to be set to "On". In the section "Program Logging", I recommend "Medium" then the ZALog.txt file won't grow exceedingly large.
Once the file has been created you may search for ZALog "on all your drives" just in case your internet logs are stored elsewhere. Once the error has occurred it will be logged into the ZALog file, which you can view with Notepad or other text viewer. You can also post it to this forum, for others to see.:)

Thanks! I don't show a "program logging". Does the free version have it. As for the error, what should I be looking for in the log?

As long as you've got a ZALog file you are set. All the "errors" are logged to this file as well as the "Alerts". However, only the "Alerts" show up in "Log Viewer" tab. The actual error that you are looking for, I can't say, but ZoneAlarm will log to this file any events that aren't normal. We humans then look at it and interpret it.:)
