Zone Alarm Problems

I installed Zone Alarm about three weeks ago and normally it works fine. Unfortunately, at times the firewall seems to disrupt, even disable my internet connection. I check the program list and IE is right on there. Does this happen to anybody else? What should I do? I have ZA shutdown just to be on this site.

 

I've run ZA for a long time without problem. Are you sure that you have the programs configured correctly? Have you installed SP2 lately? There have been some known issues with ZA/SP2. Check in ZA to be sure that IE is marked as an allowed program!!

 

Which versio of Zonealarm are you using? The new Version 5 is notoriously buggy, you might want to head to their forums for some help, although its turning more into a place for people to rant about how bad V5 is.

I would reccomend un-installing ZA v5, and either putting V4.5 back on if you like Zonealarm, or even better get Sygate personal free firewall

As the senior member wisely sugested,use zonealarm 4.5,it`s their last best stable version.
Works great for me.

Zone alarm is chipping away at their fine reputation by offering buggy versions now.

 

What is the full version number of the Zone Alarm you are using. I am on version 5.1.011.000 at present. Zone Alarm "5" has been updated a few times, so make sure you have the latest version. Looks like there are at least 2 versions to confuse people.

This is the free version. This is the one I use and used to be on MG. I use Avast as my anti virus

I use it in conjunction with ZA 5.1.011.000 with no apparent problems, for some time now. Avast checks itself for latest versions every time you boot up, automatically, with no hassles. Hope this helps. Bazza

I got to agree!

I have been user of ZA for while 4.5 I think was thier best, I loaded 5 on three PC's , nothing but problems on two running XP & sp1, the third rig run's W2K O.K. so far.

I have ditched version 5 and replaced with Sygate Personal Firewall Free:

I've been running Sygate for only few days.
I like it.

ZA seem's to not be compatitable with sp2 for now, All version's are on Microsoft's SP2 problem list, atleast that what I've read.
