Am getting more XP errors than ever before and this just the latest from any new installations I attempt on my laptop....

"ZoneAlarm-1023-English has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"

Is there any way to fix the problem or download any updates?

Any help appreciated!

Try, uninstalling zone alarm, reboot, remove the following file c:\windows\system32\vsconfig.xml. Then re-install ZA.

If you have issues still. Remove ZA. Reboot into safemode with networking (Make sure it is with networking). Remove vsconfig.xml, and install ZA WITHIN safemode (with networking). Reboot back into normal mode.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately seems like any program I download and try and install now comes back with the same ".....has encountered a problem..." error. Doh! Obviously something's causing this ongoing hiccup but what? It's not isolated to 1 or 2 progs but any *.exe self extracting program eg. MSNMessenger.exe.

Any suggestions appreciated!

I just bought a new Dell with XP Pro and I attempted to use the new version of ZA. It slowed the system down unbelieveably. I then went to Sygate firewell and all is well.

 

Thanks for your post. I think I might get an alternative Firewall too. Must be the ZA causing the conflicts galore?

Thanks a lot Theefool, you really helped me out of this problem, I wish your Reply was the first thing I read, I deleted the "vsconfig.xml" and then :celebrate , when I try to install ZoneAlarm it doesn't bring the error when it reached 15%.
Again, thank you a lot from the bottom of my heart.
