BSOD and other fun problems - possibly related to malware?

Over the last couple of weeks, I have been having some serious problems with my computer and I think it has to do with a nasty case of virus/malware/spyware, memory issue or both.

I suddenly started getting BSOD with messages like IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_EQUAL and PAGE_FAULT in NON PAGED AREA (I am going by memory here so these messages may be off a bit). This happens at any given time, and if I leave the computer on overnight with no apps open, I usually wake up to a BSOD.

Then one morning my Windows Security Alert icon in the system tray is RED because my virus protection is out of date. I have Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 14 and for some reason it will not update. I can update it manually by downloading the files from Trend Micro’s website but I cannot click on the update button and have that work for me.

I also noticed that there was some strange AntiVirus software on my machine. I did not put it there but it wanted me to run a scan. I did not do this and I think I have that removed.

So, I have run scans with Malwarebytes, Search & Destroy, SUPER AntiSpyware, and Trend Micro. I found the occasional problem but these tools claim that they have been cleaned.

But the problem still exists. I also have a problem with IE 7 shutting down due to problems with “faulting module” for flash10a.ocx, mshtml.dll, jscript.dll, kernel32.dll, etc

I just installed HiJack This and have included the log file that was generated. If someone can lend their insight and brilliance into this matter it would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

It is unlikely that all of your problems are related to malware, but the best way to determine this for sure is for you to run our full cleaning procedure given below.

Please follow the instructions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST link given futher down and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • If you have problems where no tools seem to run, please try following the steps given in the below and then continue on no matter what you find. You only need to try the TDSSserv steps if having problems getting scans in the Read & Run Me First.
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes and Spybot ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.
