    Hi guys :wave

A long with many other members of this site, i have had my host file hijacked.

Even after taking my pc to a shop to fix it, it has come back infected (with me being a few quid lighter and the arrogant guy in the shop "happy in the fact he had removed the virus") its still there with a vengeance.

I've read lots of posts on this site, and i have to say this site is a cracking site, full of useful info and tips, unfortunately, none of them are helping me rid of this damn thing.

Could someone be so kind as to help a damsell in distress??? :cry

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please follow the instructions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST link given futher down and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • If you have problems where no tools seem to run, please try following the steps given in the below and then continue on no matter what you find. You only need to try the TDSSserv steps if having problems getting scans in the Read & Run Me First.
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes and Spybot ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

Ok, i read the "run and read me first" section (very helpful by the way!) I was unable to find the TDSSserv.sys or UACd.sys in the device manager, even after entering the "view hidden devices" as suggested. The driver scanner picked up 2 drivers that were out of date, however when i tried to update the drivers, the message popped up to say that i had the most up to date drivers already?
I can run Ccleaner to a certain point. Its fine cleaning up the registry but as soon as i ask it to clean my kicks me out of the program. Please note that i have tried this a few times and it will not allow me to clean my system as the software closes totally.
I have disabled the spybot teatimer as suggested without problems. When i run spybot, it shows that my computer is running normally...! when i try to update spybot, again the program shuts down. I have carried out all the steps as advised in your helpful "read me first" section, what do i do now please?

    thanks in advance....

I have managed to sort my malware issue by myself.
Due to me being mrs. impatient, i decided to format the disc and reload the operating system. My pc is now running like i have just bought it from the shop. Woo Hooo!!! :-D
I would like to take this oppurtunity to thank all the peeps on majorgeeks.com who have taken the time out to help me with this problem. I think it's a fantastic site and if i ever have problems in the future, i will know where to come.
