Hi, recently I have noticed that when attempt to open a result from google or any search engine I am redirected to a random site. I ran several Anti-virus scans such as avast! AVG AntiSpy Scan and they found a Hijacker infection. The first time it was removed but it seemed to return. Also avast found somthing but couldnt remove it. I am near to wiping my system so can someone please help.
    Thanks in advanced!

I want you to run TDSSKiller so refer to the below for how to do so.

    TDSSkiller - How to run

Please also download MBRCheck to your desktop
    • Double click MBRCheck.exe to run (vista and Win 7 right click and select Run as Administrator)
    • It will show a Black screen with some information that will contain either the below line if no problem is found:
      • Done! Press ENTER to exit...
    • Or you will see more information like below if a problem is found:
      • Found non-standard or infected MBR.
      • Enter 'Y' and hit ENTER for more options, or 'N' to exit:
    • Either way, just choose to exit the program at this point since we want to see only the scan results to begin with.
    • MBRCheck will create a log named similar to MBRCheck_07.16.10_00.32.33.txt which is random based on date and time.
    • Attach this log to your next message. (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post )

I then want you to continue on straight away with these instructions.

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

I was unable to successfully run MGTools dues to windows not allowing it to happen. Cannot retrive the SuperAnti Spy ware log and Combo fix seemed to get to stage 40 and gave up. However I do have a log for malware bytes and so far so good, i havent encountered the issue again. I have also attached a Goored Fix log if that is any use to you. Thanks for your support.

Please click Start, Run, and enter cmd and click OK. This will open a command prompt window. Enter the below commands at the command prompt each followed by the enter key. The bold black are commands. The purple is merely informational.

    • cd \MGtools <-- this changes to the MGtools folder and the prompt should change to C:\MGtools>
    • nwktst<-- this will try to run all one scan from MGtools. Tell me what error messages, if any, you see.
    • GetRunKey <-- this will try to run all one scan from MGtools. Tell me what error messages, if any, you see.
    • ShowNew <-- this will try to run all another scan from MGtools. Tell me what error messages, if any, you see.
    • analyse <-- this attempts to run HijackThis. Be sure to click the Accept button twice in the license agreement popup or it will just sit there and wait.
Now look for the C:\MGlogs.zip file and attach it no matter what happened while doing the above.

If that fails to produce a C:\Mglogs.zip then do the below:

    Download OTL to your desktop.

    • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
    • Vista and Windows 7 users Right-click OTL and choose Run as Administrator)
    • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
    • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
    • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.

When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.

Attach both of these logs into your next reply.

I was unable to run MGtools again but still continued with QTL. So far I have not encountered the issue so I am confident that the problem has been eradicated, however It would be good to check anyway. I have attached a HijackThis log and the two QTL logs.

So just out of curiosity, where did the hijackthis log come from? Do you have HijackThis installed?

I attempted to run the MGtools commands and I got fed up due to it not working and did the Hijack this command. I do think that I had it installed before when I went through the guide before posting. Thanks for your help!

We need to know exactly what happens when you run each of those commands from the command prompt window. Kestel13! did not ask you to run MGtools again. You were asked to open a command prompt window and then to run 5 different commands. For each, command we need to know what happens. Obviously you were able to run the analyse command because you have the log for it ( the hijackthis.log file ).

When I attmpted to manually start MGtools in cmd i received the save problem with my computer not allowing it for some reason. Quite bizzare but i think that due to me having hijack this already it may have allowed me to run that specific command.

That is not what you were asked to do. See the instructions again. I repeat, they do not ask you to run MGtools. The first command asks you to change folders to the the MGtools folder. That is what cd \MGtools does. It does not run mgtools. It changes the current working folder to the mgtools folder.

From that same command prompt window type in the below command and hit enter:

    ver

Then copy and paste back here what you see.

Did you disable UAC as requested in the READ & RUN ME FIRST?

Wait..... I see the problem. You were given the wrong commands to run. You have a 64 bit OS. However the nwktst command should have run okay. So are you sure you got an error from it to? I don't think so. Try the below and tell me what happens for EACH command
    • cd \MGtools <-- this changes to the MGtools folder and the prompt should change to C:\MGtools>
    • nwktst<-- this will try to run all one scan from MGtools. Tell me what error messages, if any, you see.
    • GRK64 <-- this will try to run all one scan from MGtools. Tell me what error messages, if any, you see.
    • SN64 <-- this will try to run all another scan from MGtools. Tell me what error messages, if any, you see.

Right when I tryed to run the GRK64 command, windows kept repetedly asking for permission to use Registory Editors. At first I waited because your program said ignore them, but when the cmd would not respond I had to close it.
When I imputed the SN64 command I got these messages shown on the cmd:
    C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_32\desktop.ini-Access Denied
    C:\WINDOWS\sys32\drivers\ect\host-Access Denied

Then it goes on to say system cannot find path specified.

Thanks for all your help guys, the problem seems to have been destroyed so you do not have to continue but if you wish to then be my guest.
Thanks Kestriel and chaslang for your support!

    If this is still present:
You are still somewhat infected as this is a trace of a Max++/Sirefef/ZeroAccess rootkit.

Yes and add the fact of the issues running the programs from MGtools indicates there may be various permissions issues.

You did not tell me anything about running nwktst

I had no issues running the nwktst command. It did what it was suppose to and was uninturrupted.
