Ok, so ever since 13th October (exactly 1 week ago) I've been noticing something weird going on, on my laptop. My anti-virus (McAfee) notified me that some program tried to run, if I recall, I believe it was 20.exe. Anyways, soon after that day, I had another notification poped up, but it was by windows administrator authorization thing. It said that some file needed my authorization to continue, and the file location was system32. But I pressed cancle.

Right after those 2 incidents, I quickly ran a full scan with McAfee, but it didn't find anything. About 2 days after, windows administrator authorization thing came up again, so now I'm starting to get worried. Then I remembered that McAfee notified me about 20.exe, I went to my search bar in the my computer and looked it up. I found the location of the 20.exe. I went there, and I found other multiple folder with similar name to the folder that the 20.exe was in. The name of the folder were tmp___ (random letters/numbers) And in those folders, there were either a kill.exe or a 20.exe in them. I tried to delete all of them, but one of the folders said that I needed the administrator authorization to delete it. Well guess what? I'm the only admin/person that's using this laptop. I asked one of my friends that knew about computers and he suggested some virus removers. One of them was Spybot - Search & Destroy. I quickly downloaded that and ran a scan. It didn't find any virus or anything, just more cookies, but after I pressed the fix problems/etc. I went back to the location of the 20.exe, and in those folders, there were no more 20.exe/kill.exe.
Also, forgot to add this but, when I looked at the date/description of the 20.exe/kill.exe. It had random letters for description like jklshfjklsd, and the date that it was made/modified/ran were on 13,14, so on. The time was random during the day. I usually leave my computer on sleep mode and the screen is spose to be black until you turn in on again right? But when I open up my laptop, the log in screen was already there. (I turn my laptop screen down btw) and when I went to the folder that the exe was in, it was ran/made when my computer came back from sleep mode.

Today (20th October), the same thing came up again, with the windows notification. I ran the scan, removed it again. But.. this time, there was a 12.exe, this is the first time I've seen this ever since 13th Oct, I read the description and it was 'onganei'. I'm not sure if that's spose to be random or not. And then in another folder with a kill.exe (I think), the descrption said 'Service Updater' and it also had a red fire type torch thing as a file icon. About 30mins after I resumed my laptop from sleep mode and the scan was finished, I pressed remove, went back to the folder location, and the 12.exe was still there. I tried to remove it but it said it was still running. I went to Task Manager and pressed 'End Process' then I removed it. About 5 mins after that, I went to my McAfee settings to see the file permission, and in the permission list, it had 12.exe as 'Outgoing' and I didn't add it there. So I'm not sure what's going on here

Btw, these files keeps coming back every day. I havn't had these notifications until the 13th of October, that was when I started playing Vindictus (MMORPG) It was open beta, so they had to update the client/folders, etc. I'm not sure if it's the game or not. But I've been playing this game everyday.

Also, sorry for wall of text. And if it's in the wrong section, could a moderator move it? I'm still new

Thank you in advance. I'm really worried about my laptop, it's fairly new atm and quite expensive. And I've never gotten a virus on my computers before.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this aother user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:

Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.
