At first my computer would go staight to a blue screen saying the hard drive had crash . It seemed to happen when i accessed the internet via internet explorer . After i noticed that i did a full system scan with avast internet security . It would say to complete actions (like deleting infected files or move to chest) restart computer . After i did that the blue screen would appear . So i did a system scan again ignoring the reboot message , finding the exact place the infected files were then deleted then manualy . A couple were .sys files , one of which was afd.sys . Then i read somewhere to seach computer and delete every file thats relates to afd.sys . So stupidly i did . The blue screen has stopped but still no internet access (page cannot be displayed) . I need help . The only access to the internet i have is my cell phone .

Im running windows 7 and Do not have the disc .

    Anyhelp would be great .

Hi and welcome to Major Geeks, BKyo!

Are you able to download from your phone to transfer to a PC? If so:

http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/8120/fss.gif Please download Farbar Service Scanner and run it on the computer with the issue.
    • Make sure all the options are checked
    • Press "Scan".
    • It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool was run.
    • Please attach FSS.txt to your next message. (How to attach)

If not, please boot into Safe Mode with Command Prompt and type in the following: sfc /scannow
    Then press ENTER.

You can let it finish Startup Repair. Won't hurt anything.

Did you get a BSOD again?

  5. BKyo

    BKyo Private E-2

Ok the repair didnt do anything . I didnt get the blue screen again :) i went to RUN then Command and tryed sfc scannow . It says "you must be an administrator running a console session in order to use the sfc utility" .

  6. BKyo

    BKyo Private E-2

Ok i did the sfc scam with command prompt , it was unable to repair and made a CBS log . I went to the log and it says access is denied .

Flash drives are pretty affordable. You should be able to find for around $15. It will come in handy for future use and it would help tremendously for this type of issue.

    No problem.

    I have attached afd_tdx_7.zip (1.2 KB)
Extract the contents of this .zip file onto your desktop.

You should have both AFD.reg and tdx.reg on your desktop.

Now double-click click AFD.reg and allow it to merge into the registry. Let me know if it was successful or not.

Then do the same thing for tdx.reg.

    Now reboot your PC.

    Once you have rebooted...

Then download and save ComboFix.exe to your desktop. Do not run it yet. Read the below first.

    __

    http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/4930/combofix.gif Fixing items using ComboFix
Make sure that ComboFix.exe that you downloaded is on your desktop -- but do not run it.
If it is not on your desktop, the below will not work.
Shut down your protection software now (antivirus, antispyware...etc) to avoid possible conflicts.
Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into Notepad:
    Code:
    [COLOR="DarkRed"]KillAll::[/COLOR]
    [COLOR="DarkRed"]MIA::[/COLOR]
    c:\Windows\system32\drivers\tdx.sys

Save this file as CFScript.txt to your desktop. So now you should have both CFScript.txt and ComboFix.exe on your desktop.
Now use your mouse to drag CFScript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe and then release.
    http://softvisia.com/users/Night_Raven/Security/cfsdnd2.gif
    This will launch ComboFix.
Note: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
Allow ComboFix to update itself if prompted.
When ComboFix finishes, a log will be produced at C:\ComboFix.txt
Attach this log to your next message. (How to attach)

    Test your internet afterwards.

    :cool
    Glad to hear it.
    You're welcome.
I will post more about this later. There is still some malware in your logs and Windows Firewall is still broken, but the infection is inactive now. Just some traces to clean up. Do not install anything on your own until we are finished with malware removal.

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/4124/mbam.gif First, follow these instructions: Using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/3557/tdsskiller.gif I want you to read and follow these instructions: TDSSKiller - How to run

http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/4930/combofix.gif Now we need to run ComboFix.
Read this guide on how to run it: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix
When it starts talking about uninstalling ComboFix, stop reading. Just attach the log for me to review.

http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/3214/baticonvista7.gif Now run C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat by right-mouse clicking it and then selecting Run as Administrator
This updates all of the logs inside MGlogs.zip.
When it is finished, attach C:\MGlogs.zip to your next message. (How to attach)

ComboFix will give you an alert about Rootkit ZeroAccess. Don't panic; it's one of the last traces to be removed.

Explain this a bit more. Your MGlogs.zip are showing that you have internet access. At least on your wireless, we may need to refresh your wired connection.

In any case, reboot and let me know if you are still experiencing the same problems.

  34. BKyo

    BKyo Private E-2

Yeah , the restart did the trick . I also turned off wifi and tested a wired connection and it works fine aswell :-D .

    Good job ;)

    Here are the next steps:

http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/3557/tdsskiller.gif Re-scan with TDSSKiller with the parameters you used before.
This time if TDSS File System appears, delete it!
Then attach the latest TDSSKiller log. (How to attach)

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/4746/programsandfeatureswin7.gif From Programs and Features (via Control Panel), please uninstall the below:
    • Java(TM) 6 Update 26

    http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/4930/combofix.gif Fixing items using ComboFix
Make sure that ComboFix.exe that you downloaded earlier is on your desktop -- but do not run it.
If it is not on your desktop, the below will not work.
Shut down your protection software now (antivirus, antispyware...etc) to avoid possible conflicts.
Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into Notepad:

    "wrc@avast.com"=-

(How to attach)

http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/9049/javaz.gif Now install the current version of Sun Java from: jre-7u3-windows-i586.exe

http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/3214/baticonvista7.gif Now run C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat by right-mouse clicking it and then selecting Run as Administrator
This updates all of the logs inside MGlogs.zip.
When it is finished, attach C:\MGlogs.zip to your next message. (How to attach)

    Nope, it did not.

    Delete this file: C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Templates\ce16a11a

The rest of your logs are clean.

Make sure you read the link at the very bottom of this post entitled "How to protect yourself from malware".

    __

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis if it present
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work through the below link:
    Be safe :)
