Hi ya'll, ((This was posted in Software and I was told to move it here... so without further ado...))

Burning the midnight oil here... trying to figure out what needs to stay/go on my XP SP2 machine.

I did a Google search for AutoTBar & BlockTracker and both sound like they should be harmless either enabled or disabled... but when I try to disable them using Starter by CodeStuff, I get an error saying that it can not be found and to make sure I typed it in correctly.
I wasn't typing it, it is a couple of clicks in Starter.

    Any ideas?

Also in Starter, there was a blank entry under Startups, All Sections.

Spybot said this was some kind of worm... but Spybot has been acting a little flaky so I left the entry alone in Spybot.
Scanned using TrendMicro HouseCall, which found nothing but some tracking cookies, and also Active Virus Shield, which also found nothing and AdAware, also nothing.
I unchecked the blank entry using Starter. The entry is still listed in Starter, of course, but remains unchecked... which seems good.
How do I find out if it really is/was a worm and if I have killed it for good?

I am bumping this thread... my thread... intensionally, since I was brain dead when I was told to post this to Malware... and did not read the stickys.
Now that I have read them and started trying to follow the very first step... cleaning house... I have run into a more pressing issue with CCleaner and have started another thread for it. I will keep bumping this thread until I have made it through the instructions for house cleaning and so on.

Sorry if you have already read this... check back later when my brain has fired more than once. :)

Bumping bumping bumping, keep that thread a jumping, raw nerves!!!!!

I wonder how many bumps it takes to get to the center of a tootsieroll po... no, strike that, to the bottom of a to-do list?

Can you tell I am sleepy?

Not to be rude, Chaslang, but perhaps you need to read all of the posts on THIS thread, or even just the second one would do:

I don't like being sniped at when I was trying to correct my mistake... I can't imagine anyone does.

I was bumping BECAUSE I had not read the stickys before posting and BECAUSE the issue with AutoTBar and BlockTracker won't/can't be addressed until AFTER CCleaner is fixed, so I can go through all of the steps required to get help here.

Forget it. I am too tired to deal with this now, I need sleep and a break from trying to get XP sorted out.
Sorry if I sound as PO'd and B*tchy as I feel... not normally like this.

I did read all of this post even though I did not need to. Either way all you are doing by bumping is making it take even longer to get an answer as that sticky thread tells.

By constantly bumping, you are not correcting a mistake, you are continuing to make a mistake and you will not get an answer any sooner. It will just take longer.

AutoTbar and BlockTracker are not malware. They are HP programs. As such, they are not topics for the malware forum anyway. Neither is the use of CodeStuff a topic for this forum.

Thanks, I'll be sure to pass that on to whoever it was that told me to post it here. They were not more specific.
