    Hello awesome volunteers of MajorGeeks,

About a week ago my computer started to become really sluggish in booting and doing normal things like opening FireFox or opening itunes. On the 12th I ran a full scan with Microsoft Security Essentials and deleted a lot of virus' and trojans. I thought I was in the clear until I got the blue screen. After that I could boot my computer in normal mode but I would only get a black screen.

I could boot in safe mode though. In Safe mode I downloaded three of the five tools in Read & Run me before I got another blue screen.

I has to use a system restore to restore my computer and I was able to boot up and download all the tools for Read and Run me in Safe Mode.

Here are my logs. My website did get hacked and I checked my script and all the code I was using but I could not find anything in there. Your help is appreciated.

P.S. my trial version of HitMan pro has expired. If I need to delete stuff that HitMan Pro wants me to delete, I will need another way to go about doing that.

Thank you very much and have a wonderful day.

    EDIT:

Also before the crach Adobe Reader would not boot with the message that it was missing the core.dll

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win 7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar
      ) and choose Paste.
    • Now click the large http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/MoveIt!.png button.
    • If OTM asks to reboot your computer, allow it to do so. The report should appear in Notepad after the reboot.
    • Close OTM.
Now navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder ( assuming your Windows drive is C). This is where your log will be
saved in the form of Date and Time mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log. Just look for the most recent .log file. Attach
this log file to your next message.

Now please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Note: That JRT may reset your home page to a google default so you will need to restore your home page setting if this happens.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.
Now see if you can boot in normal boot mode and do the below. If you still cannot boot normally then continue ins safe mode.
Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles log
    • the JRT.TXTlog
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Hey,

First, thank you very much for coming to my aid. Second, their was only one thing that I could not get done.

    1). I was not able to find O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [52733FE6-7649-4CF7-90DD-D1E9AE1FF5E3] cmd.exe /C start /D "C:\Users\Darren\AppData\Local\Temp" /B 52733FE6-7649-4CF7-90DD-D1E9AE1FF5E3.exe -postboot when using HijackThis

Their were two other programs that I could not un-install but when I rebooted my computer the items were removed from my program list.

I am able to boot in normal mode though. Which is good. :)

Questions. I ask this question because I wonder how you can know what to delete? I am trying to be careful but as you can see I am not careful enough. Are their any sites I can go to, or books that I can read to know more about viruses and how they work? Getting rid of malware seems really interesting to me (Although I don't plan on trying any manual removal at all)

    The log files are attached.

    You're welcome.

It takes a significant understanding of the Windows Operatings Systems and file system and also significant time spent in training in the art of malware removal. There are few sites ( see: Becoming A Malware Forum Helper ) that have training programs that you could enroll in, but beware that it takes significant time/devotion to complete the training. Unfortunately, we really do not have time to do it here anymore as we have too few people working in the forums and are simply to busy otherwise to do it.

    Your logs are clean.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Go back to step 4 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Thank you very much for your help. I did the above steps and flushed my restore points. I will take a look at that forum. I might not be able to do anything besides run a scan with my anti-virus software after reading it. But I do like to be educated.

    Thanks again.

    dhoehna.

    You're welcome.
It is way beyond that. It is a full training program that will take you many months to complete even if experienced with Windows.
