Computer barely responding to anything...

    Hi, I think I have a malaware problem, though this is the same problem as what I had before. I though that I had managed to fix the problem, by reading a bunch of threads and following all the advice I could find, unfortunately the problem came back, and worse.
    My computer is taking half an hour to load up, and it takes me about 20 minutes to load up one page, whether or not it is online or offline. The page will crash about twice before it loads any pages correctly, though it is worst online.
    I have enough space for what I run, and what I need. There is nothing over running my CPU. My Security Essentials is allegedly working just fine, though I cannot do a scan because my computer can't handle it right now.
    I had to restart my computer this morning because trying to put on netflix, my entire computer froze - though the mouse still moves properly, and can highlight anything I put it over.
    When it loaded up, it told me my firewall was off - though when I checked, the firewall was on and working just fine. (That alone took over ten minutes to load)
    I don't know what is going on, last week I thought I had conquored this issue with all the advice I followed before, though apparently not. Cannot do anything now.
    I would really like it if I could get some help. :)
    Thank you
    -Kit

    Welcome to the Malware Removal Forum.

    Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

    Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

    READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

    and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
    Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

    Sorry about copying and pasting, I believe the best word to be used here is 'inept'. I can't figure out how to simply attach these two.

    I did run Combo Fix at first, I don't know if you would like the log from that as well; Running Combo Fix was the only way I could get my computer to semi work again in order to do anything else.

    My computer is still doing what I call 'blinking' - where everything goes black for between 30 seconds and 2 minutes, and than all of the icons, windows, pages etc. slowly come back to the screen little by little.

    After completing this, the time has dwindled a lot for loading pages both online and offline, and the 'blinking' is less, though I'm not sure if it is fixed or not... This is how well it was running when I tried to fix this before.. This = I have no clue.

    I have restarted my computer, and I have made sure only Security Essentials is running as my software, that I only have one firewall, and that my space is large enough for what I run. I have 3.25gb and use XP.

    I have also done the unplugging offline online thing with the router to try and fix the internet....

    (Just letting you know I went over the basics already)

    The blinking really bothers me - also, when the computer starts up, I get this message, telling me that I have no Firewall Up, so my computer is at risk... however, once the computer is fully loaded, the message disappears without my assistance, and when I check, my firewall is up and running... Also, I am unable to upload any of the newer upgrades for my computer still. I'm honestly not sure if this is malaware or something else, and I apologize in advance if this is indeed the wrong area.

    Thank you for helping me!! I really appreciate it. :)

    Same way you did the others. :)

    Before we continue I would like for you to use MSConfig to put this machine back into normal start up mode

    PrivitizeVPN <--- Uninstall this.

    Re run Hitman and have it delete Malware and Suspicious Files.

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    • R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://searchab.com/?aff=7&uid=4ea1bca6-5da2-11e2-9c95-001a4d6361ea
    • R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://searchab.com/?aff=7&uid=4ea1bca6-5da2-11e2-9c95-001a4d6361ea
    • O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C255C8A-E604-49b4-9D64-90988571CECB} - (no file)
    • O2 - BHO: (no name) - {724d43a9-0d85-11d4-9908-00400523e39a} - (no file)

    • O3 - Toolbar: Public_Domain - {60297340-0E84-49F7-A8BE-C33E263C29E5} - C:\PROGRA~1\PUBLIC~1\PUBLIC~1.DLL
    • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PrivitizeVPN] C:\Program Files\PrivitizeVPN\PrivitizeVPN.exe /autorun
    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

    Now we need to use ComboFix by sUBs

    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    Folder::
    C:\Documents and Settings\Brat\Start Menu\Programs\PrivitizeVPN
    c:\program files\PrivitizeVPN
    c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\Premium
    c:\program files\ZoomEx
    c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\Zoomex
    c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\InstallMate
    c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\Zoomex
    c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\Cloud Software LTD

    File::
    c:\windows\Tasks\ZoomExUpdaterTask{B8ABEB7B-AE09-4B7E-8EA9-525093E9E38B}.job

    Registry::
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{76868400-B1D2-8309-CDE0-AFE8A90EBAE1}]
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{0633EE93-D776-472f-A0FF-E1416B8B2E3A}]
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{AC854C18-2A1E-43f1-8513-0D2F26C796ED}]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "PrivitizeVPN"=-

    FireFox::
    FF - ProfilePath - c:\documents and settings\Brat\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\okv4fvud.default\
    uStart Page = hxxp://searchab.com/?aff=7&uid=4ea1bca6-5da2-11e2-9c95-001a4d6361ea
    mStart Page = hxxp://searchab.com/?aff=7&uid=4ea1bca6-5da2-11e2-9c95-001a4d6361ea
    FF - prefs.js: browser.search.selectedEngine - Privitize VPN
    FF - prefs.js: keyword.URL - hxxp://searchab.com/?aff=7&uid=4ea1bca6-5da2-11e2-9c95-001a4d6361ea&q=

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    If after running Combofix you discover none of your programs will open up, and you recieve the following error: "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion". Then the answer is to REBOOT the machine, and all will be corrected.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!
