My son is 9 and uses this computer. I've kept spyware dr on it, so I don't know how this got so bad.
I walk up to my son on the computer and some unknown program is telling me there are like 6 or 7 trojans on there. Program won't stop so I freak and restart the computer.. Security programs won't open at all.
Somehow - whatever it is - seemed to have disabled all access to security. Spyware doctor SHOULD have been on, but it wasn't. I tried to open SD and avira and it did nothing. Same with spybot.

so I reboot again and black screen. Even safe mode is a black screen.

A friend suggested AVG rescue cd - so I burned it on my laptop and finally got it to work on the infected PC. (Runs XP). It found about 7 total viruses. 4 trojans and 3 "lop"? The avg page suggested renaming these - I did and they disappeared completely. No sign of any infection - but I didn't delete so I knew they were still in there.
So I restarted the rescue again and rescanned. At last count there were upwards of 10 trojans and almost that many other.
I am afraid to just delete these since it is something that has my whole system fried and may delete something important.
    Is there any hope?

Any advice will be so greatly appreciated. I will finish this scan and await response before doing anything else.

    Hello, melmar98

You must provide the requested logs for us to help you.

To ease your concerns of "AVG deleting something important" - for now, only quarantine them and then follow these instructions:

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

Please forgive me, but I have no clue how to get you the logs when I cannot even access Windows. Will the programs in "read me" run from the boot menu? The computer will not load Windows, nor in safe mode, nor last good configuration.

And the AVG I am using is the rescue CD used from accessing F12 upon turning on the computer. The only options it gives me is to skip, rename or delete. When I renamed a few, they disappeared.

Please READ everything below before doing anything.

The first thing you want to try doing before things get any worse is to backup important data. The below CDs may help but you will have to get help in the Software Forum on using things like these since it is outside the realm of the Malware Forum to do this as we are too busy with actual malware removal.
If you can no longer boot your PC in either normal boot mode or safe boot mode, there is not much we can do for you to remove malware other than suggest you scan the drive by slaving it into another properly protected PC. Note that if you have a laptop, slaving a laptop drive requires special hardware so this may not be an option for you. Or another option is using another PC to make CDs like the below and use them to scan your PC:

However, you may want to try the below if you have your Windows boot CD or the Recovery Console installed. This could possibly get your PC bootable again.

How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP from starting

You can try running an online scanner to clean your machine enough to run our tools - we need some of those logs to see what's going on.
BitDefender Online Scanner - Requires Internet Explorer
    Trend Micro HouseCall

You might also try using another pc to load this portable appl on a CD/DVD/Flashdrive and run it:
