Got this crazy malware on my computer. Every time i start it up anti vir pops up telling me i've got a trojan TR/vundo.gen and a few other ones. it seems like it's more and more each time. i ran a virus scan. i ran a spybot s & d scan. and now i'm trying the "Windows XP Cleaning Procedure" from these forums and no luck. the comp freezes right after i start it from all the viruses. and im at my wits end at this point. reinstalling windows isnt an option because i dont have a flash drive, and this laptop didn't come with a cd drive lol. it says i'm able to reset factory defaults if i press F9 when its booting. but ive tried that NUMEROUS times and pressing F9 did nothing. i dont know what else to try at this point and would appreciate any help i can possibly get.

    thank you in advanced,

    Bump.

C'mon there has to be someone here who can fix this. System restore has done nothing. I ran the Get rid of malware thing from this site, and nothing. I really need help and I cant afford to bring it in.

    Bump again.

This is exactly my problem. Maybe this will clarify.

When I start up the computer normally I click on my user name (and this is the case for all user names) and it says logging into Windows or w/e it says exactly. Then after that screen disappears my anti virus pops up immediately. (Anti Virus is Avira Anti-Vir, and has so far been very helpful.) It gives me the option of what I want to do.

    1) Delete
    2) Ignore
    3) Move to Quarantine
    4) Rename
    5) etc

I have tried choosing "Move to Quarantine" and also tried "Delete" and even "Ignore" to see if I'd be able to keep using the comp. I can't. I can't get past the anti virus screen. My start bar doesn't even load up. I have no option but to click the anti virus, but even after i delete/quarantine them, nothing happens. The anti virus pops right back up. I can't reinstall Windows because I don't have an external flash drive, and this lap top has no CD Rom drive.

    I've run:

    Anti-Vir
    CCleaner
    Ad-Aware
    SpyBoy Search and Destroy
    Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

And alas every time I reboot my computer the viruses are still there. They've all said they have identified and removed viruses, but it's either not the right ones, or the deleting doesn't work.

The names of the viruses will come in numerous different file names, and they are usually located in the system 32 folder (not good I know)

The names of the viruses are as follows:

    TR/Vundo.gen
    TR/XPACK.gen

If anyone has information with removing these viruses I desperately need your help. A system restore did nothing.

I read online there was a way to reset the computer to factory defaults, by pressing F9 when it boots up. However, I was pressing F9 and nothing happened when I pressed it. I tried pressing it from the time it started until the time the windows logo popped up and I was bombarded by viruses.

ANY HELP I GET WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

Glad to hear they solved your problem :)

Don't suppose you took the time out to explore the forum and read a few rules?

Don't Bump! It Only Hurts You!!!

We have watched you bump constantly since your very first post. As we work our threads on an oldest to newest basis I was unable to break the forum rules myself by responding to you. I am only replying now because you have stated that you no longer require our help.

If you still did want our help--the amount of bumps you have made would have put you WAY back in the list--hence this is the reason nobody got to you sooner :( We are all working here voluntarily, and devote our free time to assisting people such as yourself.

I can appreciate your frustration and the fact that you were eager to get your issues solved, but there are others waiting too---others who were in the queue before you. You could also have attached the requested logs which you would have known to do had you followed procedures correctly.

    Thanks
    Kestrel13!

Well i gave you a "Thanks" because I see after getting some sleep I probably over reacted a bit. I didn't read the rules, no, I was posting on a few different forums at once and didn't take the time to read rules of any of them.

I guess I just got aggravated that I was asking everywhere and not getting any responses, and then I ended up solving it myself. Plus, I was up for 2 days straight trying to fix it, which probably added more to my crankiness.

Anyway I apologize for the "This place sucks" remark. Because I really have no way to judge the quality of help, since I didn't wait long enough to get it.

Best of luck to everyone. I'll probably be back one day. (I'll just remember to be more patient next time)

That was decent of you to admit you over reacted, least you took the time to stop and consider everything. *smiles* Glad you got your problem sorted and if ever you need us again, least you familiar with how we work now ;)

    Take care
    Kes
