I don't know why this happened.. I was reading manga on a website then all of a sudden I got 10 popups and my browser froze up. This never happens on this laptop. After a minute the computer unfroze and I received a popup from windows about a Potentially harmful software detected. I clicked on it and as soon as I did my whole computer screen went white. I waited a few mins and nothing happened then I did a hard shut down and when it started back up it seemed to be running fine. then I got this full screen message about the FBI locking it. I googled it on this computer and found that its some trojan or virus. I am currently running Malwarebytes in Safe Mode with Command Prompt but would like further instructions in case this doesn't work.

I have windows 7 64bit. I use CA security suite (or Total Access Defense... i think they changed the name).

I hate adding a new post before you have gotten to that one... but I thought it might be important. I am currently using the infected computer in safe mode with networking and have noticed that I am getting google redirects while reading up on this trojan.

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system

    Attached is fixlist.txt
    • Save fixlist.txt to your flash drive.
    • You should now have both fixlist.txt and FRST64.exe on your flash drive.

    Now re-enter System Recovery Options.
Run FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the flashdrive (Fixlog.txt).
Please attach this to your next message. (How to attach)

    Now attempt to boot normally.

    -------------------------------

I want you to run TDSSKiller so refer to the below for how to do so. (DO NOT just quit after running TDSSKiller and MBRCheck, there is MUCH more to do, scroll further down and follow the Read and Run Me First Malware removal procedures link.)

    TDSSkiller - How to run

Please also download MBRCheck to your desktop
    • Double click MBRCheck.exe to run (vista and Win 7 right click and select Run as Administrator)
    • It will show a Black screen with some information that will contain either the below line if no problem is found:
      • Done! Press ENTER to exit...
    • Or you will see more information like below if a problem is found:
      • Found non-standard or infected MBR.
      • Enter 'Y' and hit ENTER for more options, or 'N' to exit:
    • Either way, just choose to exit the program at this point since we want to see only the scan results to begin with.
    • MBRCheck will create a log named similar to MBRCheck_07.16.10_00.32.33.txt which is random based on date and time.

Now do not stop, please continue on with the below instructions too! :)

    http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/9659/rktigzy.gif Fix items using RogueKiller.

Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
When it opens, press the Scan button
Now click the Registry tab and locate this 1 detection:
    • [HJ INPROC][ZeroAccess] HKCR\[...]\InprocServer32 : (C:\$Recycle.Bin\S-1-5-21-69512970-1834055856-2231666033-1001\$7071c129b290e3c28de98f27f79d6a60\n.) -> FOUND
Place a checkmark each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.
When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
Do not reboot your computer yet.

Delete this file, reboot, has it gone, or still there?
    C:\Users\Michael\AppData\Roaming\neoxv6ez.exe

Re run RogueKiller, just a scan, and attach the log.

Download this file to your desktop.

    BITS.reg

    • Now please click Start, and type regedit into the search box.
    • You should see a regedit.exe and icon appear in the Programs area of the Start Menu.
    • Right click on regedit.exe and select Run As Administrator
    • Then in the Registry Editor menu click File and select Import.
    • Navigate to the BITS.reg file saved to your Desktop and double click it. Allow it to be added to the registry.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

The three files are attached and for the first time ever using MGtools I got the SteelWerX WhoAmI application has stopped working popup, I waited like the command prompt said, though not sure if this means anything.

The File is deleted and has not reappeared.

Boot into safe mode, and now follow my instructions to import the BITS.reg file again. It did not work last time, and sorry to say, it could take a few goes.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

OK done. Is there a way that I can check to see if it's installed into the registry?

I would have explained, yes :) But it's done it this time. It's not always a smooth process and just takes a few attempts and slightly differing ways of doing it. How is everything running at this point?

  15. vizarati

    vizarati Private E-2

Everything is running fantastically, no pop-up's or redirects. Running as smooth as I could wish for.

    Thanks for the help!

    Is it done? :)

What steps do I do to remove, re-enable and anything else that needs to be done.

Forgot to post the last steps ;)

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Sad to say, but its back... I guess it wasn't all removed or something?

In the process of redoing all of the original steps for logs..

It certainly should have all been removed. I hope this is not a reinfection. Either way, you must start a new thread. Thankyou. :)
