Hi I have been having this problem for about a week now where when I click a link in google I will not reach the said address but instead be redirected to some other site. The only thing that might have aggravated this is a week before this started happening I set up a Minecraft server and got a static ip for it but I don't know if that has anything to do with it. This has become a real pain so I searched for a solution and found majorgeeks.

I started following the instructions from here http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=230267

General House Cleaning - I cleared my java, internet and dns cache as indicated
    Result - the problem persisted

    DNS Posioning/Hijacking - I reset my router
    Result - the problem persisted

I then went to All browsers have a redirection problem as I was using internet explorer - I installed the TDSS killer and ran it it didnt find anything

I then downloaded the MBR check ran it and no problem was found log should be in the attachments

I then proceeded to the next part here
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

I read step 1 getting started and decided to try and reset my IE but this didn;t help

I only have one protection software installed (Norton), I knew my computer was 64 bit and I checked to make sure I can see hidden files so I proceeded to the Disabling of Any Disk Emulation Software followed the procedures installing DeFogger and it didnt need to restart my computer

I then went to step 5 Temp File/Folder Cleaning dowloaded CCleaner and ran it

I then went to step 6 I run a windows 7 so I followed that link

    The next steps are here
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=139681

I dowloaded all the programs RogueKiller, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, I already had TDSSKiller from before in the process, HitmanPro, and MGtools.

I then proceeded to disabling User Account Control and followed the instructions

Step 3 I Installed all the tools and ran the scans the logs should be attached

    Then I made this thread

If you need any other info or maybe I messed up somewhere let me know
I would really appreciate the help I will check back nearly every day

    Hi. :)

Before we continue I would like for you to use MSConfig to put this machine back into normal start up mode

Uninstall the below garbage using Revo Uninstaller.
    • Browser Manager
    • iCloud
    • iLivid
    • IB Updater Service
    • kikin plugin 2.11
    • Incredibar Toolbar on IE

Re run Hitman and have it delete only this item: (under the heading 'Malware'

Also have it delete all Potential Unwanted Programs

http://imageshack.us/a/img841/7292/thisisujrt.gif Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

    Thanks a lot Kestrel13!
The problem has appeared to stop I will monitor the situation over the next week and post again.

The logs should be attached if you would like to look at them.

The only problems I had were trying to get rid of iCloud but I manually found it and got rid of it.

Thanks again this was really becoming a nuisance, I really appreciate your swift response and expertise.

Can't thank you enough, You are awesome:-D

    Good to hear! :)

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Press and hold the Windows key http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/Windows_Logo_key.gif and then press the letter R on your keyboard. This opens the Run dialog box.
      • Copy and paste the below into the Run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 4 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    5. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others) and running MGclean.bat did not remove, you can delete these files now.
    8. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
