Hi i got a new pc 2 days ago. i want to put my old hd inside this pc and add it up, but also recover all the files i had or want. i havent done this yet tho, so this pc is completely empty. havent downloaded anything, just avira and hitman pro and hijackthis. I ADDED THE HIJACKTHIS LOGFILE SO PLEASE CHECK. I have been having some problems with this and at first i thought it was windows 7 and am really really hating it but i dont have the money to buy anything for a while, this pc dried me out completely. am pretty poor anyways so u can imagine.
ok thing is, i play sims 3, spore and sims 2 which are compatible with win7, i checked. but i have a perfectly clean and reliable torrent of spore and sims 3. sims 2 is still on the other internal hd. well i tried redownloading spore on this pc since i saved the torrents on my external hd. it started downloading perfectly up until it asked me to insert cd with the sporeapp data or smth. i was stuck so i broke off installation, then i got this message from windows saying there was an error installing spore setup.exe. ok so i just try again buy then they say d3dx9_27.dll is missing.(btw i have directx11, an ati5770, athlon II X3 435 processor, 4gb ram in an antec 3 case with 500W etc etc) well, like i said the pc is still like completely empty and i ve already updated my graphic card driver etc etc and laid off of everything.

so when i clicked the sporesetup.exe for the third time i got this error:

    ">SetupNew\setup.cpp (135)
    PAPP:
    PVENDOR:
    PGUID:
    $14.0.0.162
    @Windows Vista Service Pack 0 (7600) IE 8.0.7600.16385

i have all the updates automatically installed and i have service pack 1, but i dont get the vista part, or is it cuz my os is win7? i have thought about running the pc in windows xp mode, do u think this will deal with this problem? does that mean my os turns into windows xp, as in everything works like xp? (i already enabled virtualization technology in the bios menu thingie) i also run a registry check (didnt remove anything) and there were quite a few errors. i wonder if i will be able to do anything with this windows 7 crap, please help me am poor and desperate :cry

I believe that most of what you outlined in your post is subject for other forums such as software/hardware. It does not sound to me at all like you are having malware problems, and we only deal with malware removal in this forum :) If you do suspect malware's presence on your machine then you will just have to follow through the below, otherwise do what I suggested.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.
