Help needed.

My journey started with finding and successfully removing cogad.exe. I have trojans and viruses. I have run the first steps of the Read Me First helps. I ran cccleaner on all profiles on my Win 98 machine. CCCleaner finds something new everytime I run it.

I run AVG Free virus protection. A little red icon in my system tray alerts me that Windows Firewall is not on, but I think this is ok because I read multiple firewalls will cause issues, and indeed when I have Windows Firewall on, links from emails to open in Firefox run very slowly. I believe AVG Free has a firewall built in?

When I went to the next step and ran the Super Anti spyware free edition, it scanned for an hour and detected over 80 issues, at least 2 of which were trojans. When I seleted fix or repair checked items, it crashed and gave an error or blue screen error that it could not continue and shut down, had to reboot. So my questions are:

1. Is AVG Free Firewall good enough, should I keep Windows Firewall off? If not, how do I speed up pages launching from links which run slow with Win Firewall on?
2. Why does the Windows Security Center warn me that Automatic Updates are off when they are not?
3. How do I proceed with cleaning up my system when I am at a deadlock with Super Anti spyware free edition?

Still working this on my own and pleading for help. I installed Norton 360, and its not detecting the trojans AVG (now uninstalled) and other software found. Every time I boot up, I get a pop up error "error loading efuql.dll (some missing letters in there I don't remember. Please help me.
