I need help! My searches are being redirected, but I also cannot open/use my malware-spyware programs. I get the message "the service cannot accept control messages at this time". I am including my Hijack this log which I ran in safe mode. I have downloaded the suggested progs but cannot open them :cry I am also unable to rename my Malwarebytes exe file.

Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.4

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

I'm sorry but this is of no use to us which is why we state not to post them in our procedures.

Uninstall AVG10, and Advanced SystemCare 4 and then run the below to cleanup leftovers from McAfee

    McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool

Now please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything. TRY ALL steps as requested do not stop until you have tried ALL the tools. If you can run HijackThis, other tools should also run.

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:
    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

This is so very frustrating for me....Firstly, there is over a minute lag when trying to access anything in my files. I am unable to uninstall AVG or Advanced Care. I get the message that it has already been uninstalled, though it is still there. I also downloaded MCPR.exe but my computer will not let me access it and I continue to get the message " the service cannot accept control messages at this time". This is the same message that I get when trying to use any of my virus-malware programs. I did read thru your steps and tried to do everything you requested but am blocked :( There is certainly something bad going on here that is more complicated....please help!

Also...as I stated in my last post. When I tried to uninstall AVG as you requested, it came up with a message that it had already been uninstalled. However, when I clicked on the desktop icon to run, it did a scan and came up with this threat "Trojan Horse Dropper.Agent.ARYN". When I tried to move it to the vault, remove or quarintine it couldn't. I got that same error message " the service cannot accept control messages at this time".

This actual sounds more like a problem within Windows than it does malware. Does this also occur when you booted in safe mode to run HijackThis? Can you run other programs in safe mode?

Had you recently been experimenting with disabling or changing the settings on any system services? Like have you been trying to run any tweaks? You may need to put settings back to defaults as in the bellow:
