Hi there, I just joined your group and would like some nformation on removing Adware.lefeats & Trojan.Adclicker from my hard drive.
My system consists of - HP pavillion 7955
    - 1.5 GHz pentium 4
    - 256 mb SDRAM memory
    - 40.0 GB ultra DMA hard drive
    - 32 mb nVIDIATNT2 M64 graphics card
    - CD-RW hp cd writer
    - DVD drive

I have done a a full system scan using Symantec Norton Anti-Virus 2005 and have 556 items (8 trojan & 548 adware lefeats). I have read the info on their website and have an idea of how to remove it but I don't feel confident with my knowledge to go into the registry keys and deleting what is required to be rid of this curse.
I would like to know if there is a program out there that will do that. I have tried Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE personal and Spybot Search & Destroy. From what I understand these programs do not remove it from my hard drive as they don't go into the registry keys. I have downloaded a trial version on Stopzilla and the trial version only contains it and will not remove it . In talking to the technical people , he said that I would have to buy the registered product to fix my problem with the adware but the version that would remove the trojan won't be out for a few more days.
After doing a little research on the different programs out there I'm not sure if Stopzilla is the best one to get ( I get popups after a search trying to send me there, so I don't trust them). Also is there a free version of a program that would do the same thing.
One review that I have read said that Webroot's Spy Sweeper is the best and another that said that Spyware Detector is the best. Both of these programs I don't mind paying for but would like an opinion or an easier method than Norton's.
    Thank you.
    Wizz :)

    Hi,
I am trying to do step 0 , i.e. House cleaning and I have 2 programs that I suspect are spyware. The are Search Extender and Shopping Wizard. When I click on remove it takes me to this web site http://looking-for.cc/smartfinder/uninstall/SearchExtender.html . and it asks me run an uninstall program and restart. When I do this and go back to Remove/Uninstall in Control Panel it is still there ( no size of file is displayed ). Should I continue with the other steps?
I have "about blank" on my hard drive also if that helps.

    Thanks again
    Wizz :)

    Hi again,
I did all the procedures on the sticky thread and I still have the same problem. It seems the more I try to remove the more spyware files I have.
I have attached the scan logs and would like your comments.
I am thinking of just scrapping everything and reformating, but there is a wrinkle. When I bought my computer the operating system was allready installed.I think it is partitioned as when I bought it it was a 40 gig and only 32 was available. I didn't get a disc with it.
I have a couple of questions
1- Can the partitioned side get corrupted and in your opinion is it?
2- If not can you steer me in the right direction as to how I would reformat?

    Thanks,
    Wizz

P.S. I tried to attach the db scan and I get an error. Any ideas why? I will try in another post.

You have HijackThis installed incorrectly. Install HijackThis to a safer location such as C:\HJT.

Uninstall PartyPoker using Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

    Empty the Norton Quarantine folder.
Empty the Norton Protected Recycle Bin.

Follow the procedures for about:Blank and HSA Hijacker - Simplified Removal.

    Download FixAprop to your Desktop.

    Reboot to Safe Mode.

    Run FixAprop.

    Reboot to Safe Mode.

Run Microsoft AntiSpyware and let it fix what it finds.

    Reboot to Normal Mode.

NOTE: Some of the below processes and lines may no longer exist.

In HJT Choose Open the Misc Tools Section choose Process Manager, Highlight:
    Choose Kill Process

Now scan and have HJT Fix the following:
Follow the directions for Running Ewido Security Suite.

Post the Ewido Log and a fresh HijackThis log.
