Welcome to the Malware Removal Forum.

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

    Hi,
I started with procedure and De Fogger didn't ask me to reboot machine. Is it problem?

And I am not able to rename mbam-setup.exe, it tells me that mb.exe already exists.

What should I do now? I used only RogueKiller and have log.

    Waiting for your answer.

I found out right now that I have saved application mb.exe on my desktop, therefore I wasn't able to rename the new one. ( I have already downloaded mg tools -time ago and didn't delete it. )

May I use the older app ? Or should I delete that one ?

    Thx.

    Don't know.

As stated in the beginning of the READ & RUN ME, just continue on? And you only need to run this if you have disk emulation software running.

  12. chaslang

chaslang MajorGeeks Admin - Master Malware Expert Staff Member

Absolutely not! You need to always finish our final instructions to cleanup old versions. Delete them now and then download the current versions. Also you only need to rename Malwarebytes if you have a problem running it with the real name. ;)

    Uninstall the below immediately:
    GinyasBrowserCompanion

Then remove any leftover hooks into your browsers. If you are not sure how to do that, see the below:

    http://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-ginyas-browser-companion/

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win 7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.plusnetwork.com/?sp=lintbie&q={searchTerms}&dp=MessengerPlus
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://www.plusnetwork.com/?sp=lintbie&q={searchTerms}&dp=MessengerPlus
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,Default_Search_URL = http://www.plusnetwork.com/?sp=lintbie&q={searchTerms}&dp=MessengerPlus
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.plusnetwork.com/?sp=lintbie&q={searchTerms}&dp=MessengerPlus
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://search.imesh.com/sidebar.html?src=ssb
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local;127.0.0.1:9421;<local>
    O3 - Toolbar: Community Smart Bar - {ae07101b-46d4-4a98-af68-0333ea26e113} - mscoree.dll (file missing)
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [DriverScanner] "C:\Program Files\Uniblue\DriverScanner\launcher.exe" delay 20000

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Please download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
    • Run OTM.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).
    • Copy the lines from the below codebox to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C
(or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy): Do not include the word Code: which is just a title line of
      the code box

    [purity]
    [EmptyTemp]
    [start explorer]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar
      ) and choose Paste.
    • Now click the large http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/MoveIt!.png button.
    • If OTM asks to reboot your computer, allow it to do so. The report should appear in Notepad after the reboot.
    • Close OTM.
Now navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder ( assuming your Windows drive is C). This is where your log will be
saved in the form of Date and Time mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log. Just look for the most recent .log file. Attach
this log file to your next message.

Now please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Note: That JRT may reset your home page to a google default so you will need to restore your home page setting if this happens.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.
Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles log
    • the JRT.TXTlog
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Hi,
I uninstalled Ginyas Browser Companion from PC but haven't found it among adds-on in browsers. I've checked both - Internet Explorer and Mozilla.

Then I wanted to fix lines in analyse.exe - HijackThis but I found only 2 of them:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local;127.0.0.1:9421;<local>
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [DriverScanner] "C:\Program Files\Uniblue\DriverScanner\launcher.exe" delay 20000

    What now?

I haven't finish whole procedure yet. Waiting for your answer first.

    Thx.

Hi, I had serious problem now with running OTM - it stayed frozen and blocked for hour.
It really scared me. I was afraid even spent PC that it won't function anymore.

What was wrong ??? I was following all instructions !!

Isn't there any way to talk directly pls?

Maybe there is something wrong and I really don't understand what.

    PC is running very slow.

  21. chaslang

chaslang MajorGeeks Admin - Master Malware Expert Staff Member

Sometimes this will happen if you have any protection software running. You should disable all protection software first ( like Avast, Malwarebytes, firewall...etc ) and retry. Otherwise you could run ONLY the part with OTM from safe boot mode which will typically work around this problem.

So kill the current OTM process if still running. Then shutdown all protection software and try again. If it still hangs, boot into safe mode to run ONLY the OTM part. The rest should be run in normal boot mode.

    Hi,
I am sending you requested logs. You were right ;), software protection created problem with OTM. I turned off all protection today and there wasn't any problem.

I don't see any viruses like adserver and similar things anymore :).
    Internet is much faster.
Only launching Mozilla takes a long time.

So could you tell me what is the next step? Of course, if there isn't any problem anymore ....

    Thank you.

You're welcome. Your logs are clean.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. If you are running Win 8, Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below to flush restore points:
      • Refer to the instructions for your WIndows version in this link: Disable And Enable System Restore
      • What we want you to do is to first disable System Restore to flush restore points some of which could be infected.
      • Then we want you to Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

It is not among Add/Remove Programs.

Could u tell me how, pls ? Last bothering, promise !!

    Have a great weekend,

If it is still present after running MGclean.bat, you can just delete the file. It is not installed.
