Hi, I downloaded the IE7 beta 2 yesterday and I think it might have been infected with somekind of spyware or something because the homepage is always this: http://xn--3zo1864a/
This page is dosn't load and come up in a google search. When I've tried to change the homepage it dosn't work.

Sounds like you have a hijacker, please follow the steps below:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gifAfter doing ALL of the above and you still have a problem, make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below thread to properly use HijackThis and attach the log:

    Hi again,
I did a little research on this web address, in IE it can't be found, but in firefox it loads a (korean I think) website called kidmom.com.kr.

Anyway I followed the intructions on the threads you posted and everything was normal, one of the spyware scanners found 3 spyware cookies which it deleted. Bit defender online scan found 1 virus which was in Norton Antivirus 2006 quarantine, I deleted that virus from the quarantine. So I've attached my hijack this log.
Thanks for the on going help!
    Alex

    Hi again,
I ran Ewido like the link said and the report said no infections found, i've attached it just incase there is some info on there that might be useful.
Might uninstalling IE7 help this situation or would that make no difference as the infection is somewhere else and could therefore reinfect?

As an FYI, IE7 is not infected. It was also designed for web developers for testing and is very buggy. It was put out for the general public.

OK, thats cool, I was just too egar to play with the IE! I'll wait until it is released properly, not in beta. So my next question then is how do I uninstall it? It dosn't show up in Add/Remove Programs and there isn't an uninstall option in the program files/Internet Explorer folder? Would unchecking it in Add/Remove Windows Components do it?
    Cheers

You should be able to check "Show Updates" and locate it. Let me know if you can't see it.
