Hi, My name is Victoria...I have been playing WoW online for along time just about 2 weeks ago my account got hacked somehow and I learned not just mine but many players accounts have gotten hacked....Then I found out that it was probably a keylogger recording my private information...I don't know how else they could of gotten my account password information... Ive never shared any of that with any one at all and I never logged into any website using my wow account info..I'm really concerned about that so i bought an account authenticator from the WoW store and i've installed spybot....avira.....I hate keyloggers....Super Anti-Spyware and IObit security and window defender is active...but, I'm just kinda worried because nothing I had/have has ever tracked any kinda keylogger..I dunno if these programs are enough...I am freaking out because of that...Are these the right kind of programs? is there anything else i should know? How can someone just target you from who knows where and manage to get into your computer?....I just don't understand but everyday on WoW you hear someone else saying their account was hacked...Any information would be awesome...sorry I seem like some noobie lol

In most cases, problems with hacked accounts on these gaming sites are due to problems on the gaming site and its servers and not with the end user PCs being infected. Connecting to these servers is similar to using P2P and Torrent downloaders. You are connecting to other unknown people and allowing them to connect to your PC to. Hackers will find a way to make use of these connections that you have permitted thru your firewall.

WoW is notorious for issues like this. We have had many dozens of people coming here with a complaint of their account being hacked and being worried about having a keylogger. Not once has there proven to be a keylogger problem. That does not mean they may not have had some malware on their PCs. Most people have malware of some form or another and just don't know it.

If you must play online games then have a PC for only online gaming and do not use it for anything were you would have to worry about personal information/financial information being stolen. Use a different PC that NEVER connects to gaming sites and NEVER is used for downloading MP3s, videos,....etc from P2P and torrent servers.

However, if you want to check your PC, run the below cleaning procedure and attach the logs we request and we will tell you what we see.;)

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.
