    Hey,

Yesterday evening, our desktop computer started getting malware attacks and they still keep coming in. We've gotten 30 or more since yesterday... As soon as we clean one out, another comes in.
We have PrevX 3.0 virus and malware protection and is up to date an it's blocking most of them. And our Windows Firewall is on. I just don't understand why we've never had a problem with it until yesterday...and it only happens when start browsing the internet or check emails on outlook express.
    Please help.

    Thanks,
    Jo.

UPDATE: We installed SpyWare Terminator and it's telling us that all this malware is coming from Generic Host Process for Win32 Systems.
    How can we fix this?
PrevX 3.0 has removed over 100 more malware since my last post the other night...
    Please help.

    Thanks,
    Jo.

    UPDATE:

Okay, last night I went into our Temp files and clicked on one of these things that keeps coming into our computer. It shows up as InstallShield and it says:

    "Command line parameters:
    /L language ID
/S hide initialization dialog. For silent mode use: /S
    /v/ qn.
    /V parameters to MsiExec.exe
    /UA<url to InstMsiA.exe>
    /UW<url to InstMsiW.exe>
    /UM<url to msi package>"

After I start up Windows Task Manager and close it, 10-15 seconds later, another box pops up that says:

"You chose to end the nonresponsove program, Turbo Lister 2"
    The program is not responding.
Please tell Microsoft about this problem
We have created an error report...etc"

I click on the error report and it says...

    "Error signature
szAppName: Turbo Lister.exe sz AppVer: 9.0.333.0 szModName: hungapp
    szModVer: 0.0.0.0 offset: 00000000"

The problem must be with eBay Turbo Lister but I cannot find it... I updated it today but it didn't fix the problem...

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Neither InstallShield nor ebay Turbo Lister are malware. If you are having problems in any form with them, you need to post about them in the Software Forum.

If you want to properly check your PC for malware, please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything. You will have to shutdown Prevx or uninstall it before doing the below since Prevx has major false detection problems and identifies tools used for malware removal as problems when they should know better.

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:
    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.
