This seems to be an issue that many ignore...

I've got a pc that I've been tinkering with to get an idea of how to keep a pc clean for a long period of time, rather than finding short term cures for issues. So, long story as short as possible:

    PROBLEMS
I backed up the pc at a point when it was relatively clean. It probably has a thing or two that's not supposed to be there, but it's good enough. (Starting size = 20GB...WINDOWS 7...a few pre-installed programs)

After surfing the net and installing a few small programs (in no way over a couple gigs worth of space), the hard drive swells and literally doubles in space used.

In no way should surfing the net raise your starting size of 20GB used the 40GB, anyone should know that. The main culprits of this are a 20GB windows folder (really?) and a 7GB system volume information folder. MANY pc's have this problem with no real cure to be found.

Also, after running the malware readme guide on this helpful site, everything does run A LOT faster, but the prementioned problems still exist, as well as many of the malware regenerating themselves soon after internet usage.

    PRECONCLUSION
    1. Something's eating up massive amounts of hard drive space for unknown reasons (Overlooked by many)
    2. Self repairing malware (Probably more of a personal problem I've been having)

I'm in no rush to cure these issues, as the computer is still relatively functional. I'll be looking into these issues on my own and seeing what I can find. Nonetheless, if anyone has any information please share.

Also, I'm looking for more of a generalized fix; something that gets at the root of the issue, since this problem is fairly common. Personalized fixes are great, but you end up having to go bother someone for help if it happens in a slightly different way. Hope that makes sense.

    Thanks for the help!

    Here are latest logs:

I've gotten the AntiSpyware and MalwareBytes logs to show up mostly clean by blocking most cookies, I was getting up to 200 tracking cookies a day without doing this.

The rest of the logs I haven't entirely learned how to read, though I'm unsure they'd even point to the main problem.

Not seeing any malware... let's just do this to cover all bases.

I want you to run TDSSKiller so refer to the below for how to do so.

    TDSSkiller - How to run

Please also download MBRCheck to your desktop
    • Double click MBRCheck.exe to run (vista and Win 7 right click and select Run as Administrator)
    • It will show a Black screen with some information that will contain either the below line if no problem is found:
      • Done! Press ENTER to exit...
    • Or you will see more information like below if a problem is found:
      • Found non-standard or infected MBR.
      • Enter 'Y' and hit ENTER for more options, or 'N' to exit:
    • Either way, just choose to exit the program at this point since we want to see only the scan results to begin with.
    • MBRCheck will create a log named similar to MBRCheck_07.16.10_00.32.33.txt which is random based on date and time.
