i followed all the steps and none of the anti virus/anti spyware will finish, when i run them the computer shuts off, even in safe mode. I tried safe mode with my name and administrator.

    what should i do now?

i forgot to add that i tried scanning with bitdefender but shortly after it started scanning, my computer shut down.

only HijackThis gets through without shutting down.

According to your HJT log, you never even started a scan with Bitdefender. Also you never attempted a PandaActiveScan. Please run them and attach the logs. If they will not run at all, then run the below and attach the logs:

Running Ewido Anti-Malware - save the log and attach it.

Running Kaspersky Online Scanner - Save the log and attach it to your message.

Now Click on Start, then Run ... type services.msc into the box that opens up, and press 'OK'. On the page that opens, scroll down to Windows Management Updater ... then right click the entry, select 'Properties' and press 'Stop Service'. When it shows that it is stopped, next please set the 'Start-up Type' to 'Disabled'. Press 'OK' until you get back to Windows.

Next, run HJT, but instead of scanning, click on the "None of the above, just start the program" button at the bottom of the choices. At the lower right, click on the 'Config" button, and then the Misc tools' button ... select 'Delete an NT Service" ... copy/paste the following into the box that opens, and press "OK":

    WinManUpdater

If you receive any error messages just ignore them and continue.

Now exit HJT but and reboot when it tells you it needs to.

Delete this file if found (only if found here!!!!!): C:\WINDOWS\smss.exe

Now run the below procedure and attach the newfiles.txt log.

    all right here's the deal,

first thanks for taking the time to help me out

now I can't do anything because my computer shuts down when I run any of the above...I did try for a bitdefender scan but it shuts down while scanning, also I just tried the panda thing and avast detected a virus (Win32:CTX) while updating the latest, I tried two times and both times Avast detected that virus so I aborted the download.

    ewido-shuts down while scanning
kaspersky-shuts down while checking for updates.

only HJT is quick enough where the computer won't shut down after using it. and i was able to delete C:\WINDOWS\smss.exe per your directions but right after deleting, it shut down.

ShowNew, I was able to download that one but after the log report shows up the laptop shuts down.

    in safe mode, same thing

I should probably just buy a new laptop huh?

This is a false detection by Avast. You can either ignore it and continue the scan or if that does not work, disable Avast while running Panda.

Did you also stop and disable the Service and then delete the NT service using HJT? Is the O23 Service line for it now gone?

The log is already saved anyway. Just find it and attach it. The file is C:\newfiles.txt
