Right now, i have some real stubborn malware. I'll provide as much info as i can.

As of now, my computer has .5 gigs of RAM, is windows XP, no service pack, and i cannot access ANY free antivirus sights, along with many that i would have to pay an exorbitant fee for. I have done a COMPLETE DESTRUCTIVE SYSTEM RECOVERY, and it's still here. I cannot access microsoft.com, either.

Hopefully, I have provided enough info, and just ask if you need more, just bear in mind that you may need to explain how to check some things, etc.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this aother user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:

Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

    Alrighty, then....

    Details:

I could not download Malwarebytes, so that is why my next post will only contain one log. The only other thing that might have been a problem is when i was using ComboFix, It closed my browser with the instructions, so I opened it back up, only for ComboFix to say not to run anything until it was done, shortly after the page was opened. Also, if this is relevant, I was using firefox.

I still need the C:\NGLogs.zip from running the C:\MGTools.exe.

In the meantime, please put ComboFix directly on your desktop, not where you have it:
    Running from: c:\documents and settings\Owner\My Documents\Downloads\ComboFix.exe

Now, please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Now copy just the bold text below to notepad (Do not include any space above the word REGEDIT). Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Then use windows explorer to find and delete:
    c:\windows\System32\sjekoe.dll

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\MGlogs.zip

Here's the log. When running MGtools, I recieved this error after the command prompt read, "Running processdll.exe to find loaded DLLs"

    "C:\WINDOWS\Mircosoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\mscorwks.dll could not be loaded"

Also, no such success message was given. After saving the file that you specified, though it does have a different desktop icon... it's like a rubik's cube, but squares are all one light blue color, and some of the said squares are "flying away" with a blank sheet of paper is behind it the cube and everything on the icon. (described the best that I can)

Why is there no AV software on this system? Plus, you need to update to sp2 at the least, better if you updated to sp3. Your system could also benefit from doubling the amount of RAM you have installed.

Tell me what malware issues you are still having, if any.

Well, the reason that my comp doesn't have a service pack, is because the malware (I suspect) is preventing me from accessing microsoft.com. this issue has not been resolved yet. Nor has the other issue with the other anti-spyware/malware programs' websites.

Also, about the AV software... I had no idea that it was a problem; my computer's speakers and monitors are working just fine.

And, one last question, how do you install more RAM?

One last thing: that file that you asked me to delete: sjekoe.dll, when i tried to delete it, my comp said "access denied".

I meant Anti-Virus software. Your computer is unprotected!!

As to installing more RAM, you should first go to crucial.com and have it scan your system to see how much RAM it will support. Then it is just a simple matter of installing it into the motherboard.

SO, you can not get updates through MS? And you can not access any malware sites?

Download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    * Extract+ avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    * Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    * -Do not change any check box options!!
    * Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:

    * Now click the Execute button.
    * Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    * Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    * Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    * A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\Avenger.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

Ok, here are the logs. As last time, I got the framework error, but that is expected, I assume.

Also, I have the amount of RAM to install... but I don't know how to do that. is there a guide or something?

Your logs are clean. You need to install an anti-virus program and try to get your system updated. If you are having issues with that, I suggest you post in the software forum.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real time protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.We recommend them for doing backup scans when you suspect a malware infection.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Please download current copies of ComboFix and MGtools and save them to your Desktop, but DO NOT run them yet.

Also DO NOT save them like you did last time to the below location:
    c:\documents and settings\Owner\My Documents\Downloads\ComboFix.exe

Save them to your Desktop as requested.

Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it has expired or need to be updated to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Run MGtools.exe ( Note: If using Vista or Win7, make sure UAC is still disabled. Also don't double click on it, use right click and select Run As Administrator )

    Now attach the below log:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    NOTES:
    • The framework error you keep mentioning is due to the fact that you don't have the proper versions of .NET Framework installed as stated in the instructions for MGtools.
    • You are also way out of date with your Windows updates which is why you got this Conficker type infection to begin with and not having protection installed (as TimW already commented) even made it easier for the infection to hit you.

No idea what happened, but I ran combofix, then I was pulled away from my comp so long that it logged me off with the screen saver. Then, when I came back and logged in, combofix was stuck in the "Creating logs" step, as my start up applications (freedom, weatherbug, HP center, and superantispyware) popped up, and it froze for a second, until i closed combofix, then I restarted since my Volume control disappeared from the system trey.

I turned it back on, and my windows updater decided to spring into action, and install a whopping 14 updates, included was a malware remover tool, and some security programs.

    Please attach the requested logs.

Sounds like things are working okay now?
