I am having a problem ...I can't get the home page to change. When I go to start - internet options, it comes up about:blank. I enter www.msn.com - apply and ok and it goes back and opens up asafecenter.com or virusprotectpro.com/?aff=1012 and I also get a system alert: Trojan-spy.win32@mx window. What can I do to stop this??

Oh! I have McAfee and I am running that now. But I know that you have better ones to use.

I'm going to post two sets of instructions below. Each will be enclosed in separate Quote boxes. Make sure to complete the first one 100% before moving on to the second one.

ATTACH THE FIRST LOG NOW BEFORE CONTINUING OR YOU WILL OVERWRITE IT!!!! And then immediately continue on to the below steps.

    How are things working now?

Even if things seem okay, you really should consider running this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Attaching logs is explained in the sticky threads which should be read before posting.

See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post

What you did was post an inline log which we do not want. Run step 2 and attach the second log.

I attached the file. I have a block on the screen that says:

You have used the System Configuration utility to make changes to the way windows starts.

The System Configuration utility is currently in diagnostic or selective startup mode causing this message to be displayed and the Utility to run every time windows starts.

Choose the normal startup mode on the general tab to start windows normally and undo the changes you have made using the System Configuration utility.

[] Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility.

    [ok]

what do I do next and what do I do about the window

I have an icon at the lower right of my screen that I think is new...

Open SQL Server Service Manager current service on//

Is this a left over from the cleaning we did yesterday? What do I do with it??

That has nothing to do with anything we ran. It sounds like you are running an SQL type application. This is not malware.
