I've had several attacks by malware last months. I was able to remove those with Hitman 3.5 and Tdss killer (for rootkit virus). After a week I was infecdted again, this time constant pop up windows with something
resembling the AVG logo announcing malware called explorer.exe. Tried Malawarebytes, AVG, Hitman but nothing helped so used Combofix. It ran fine but afterwards I had no network connection. Tried using network repair function with no effect. Logs attached, would really appreciate help with this.

OS is Vista 32. Network card has newest driver, I have not tried disabling and reinstalling card drivers..

    Ole

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this aother user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:

Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

I've gone through your guidelines and done as instructed.

On two points I had to deviate:

When running RootRepeal I get a bluescreen message after initiating scan. It says there's an error caused by rootrepeal.exe and it needs to restart. The first time I ran Rootrepeal I did not have this problem and it scanned for at least a few hours. When I checked in on it later the program had freezed and displayed an error message box with no content. After this the bluescreen appears right after I start scanning, even after restarting. So naturally, I have no RR log..

The other point is that i haven't run Combofix (again) since it probably caused my problem in the first place. The original log is in my first post. If you feel it's necessary to run it again I will of course do so.

I am not seeing where Combo removed anything that would have stopped your internet connection. Have you flushed your DNS?

Have you tried using SAS to reconnect? To do so, open SAS / preferences / repairs and scroll down to repair your internet connection.

I am also not seeing any malware in your logs.

Yes, flush and SAS has no effect.
When trying to connect to messenger i got the message standard gateway disconnected. So I ran ipconfig /all and it detects my ip adress but Media State: media disconnected. The cable is of course connected and there's a green light at port. I know the router's fine because I have an xbox connected to other cable port..

You may need to post in the networking forum for this issue. The only thing I can think of is you may need to reinstall your networking card drivers.

Did you try doing a system restore?

I just noticed that IP routing enabled:No. Could this be the problem?

Before my network problems began I had a major rootkit infection and really struggeled to even get windows to work. Is it a good idea to do system restore at this point?

Well, it would be if that is the only way to get the network back. You would of course what to then run all the scans on the system again so we can remove any malware that might be in the restore point. Or, go back far enough to not be infected, depending on when you noticed the infection.

    Ok, thank you.
I will try reinstalling network card drivers. If that doesn't work I'll try system restore, run AV software and post logs here to avoid a new crash.
