    hi all , i`m not sure quite where to post this request for help , so if this isn`t the place i would appreciate you pointing me in hte right direction. Actually i already posted this in hte welcome centre , but this looks like a better place , sorry for the repeat !

    I need some help removing a trojan that is masquerading as windows security and AVG (9.0 free is what i use) and telling me to pay to upgrade in order to remove a virus. It has also shut down access to the internet and prevents me from running any applications in normal mode.

    I have followed the "read and run me first" advice on this sight in windows safe mode (including malwarebytes, superantispyware, combofix, rootrepeal, mgtools) finding 39 problems and removing them , but when i boot up normally , hte problem is still there.

    I have a file containing the logs of all these programs.

    If anyone can help i would really appreciate it ! thanks !

    Welcome to MajorGeeks, Acidtest

    • Now you need to attach (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post ) the below logs created while running the requested scans.
      • SASlog.txt log from SuperAntiSpyware.
      • Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log
      • RRlog.txt (from RootRepeal)
      • ComboFix.txt (normally C:\ComboFix.txt)
      • MGlogs.zip - normally it is C:\MGlogs.zip - only attach this log from MGtools.exe DO NOT attach any logs seen in the MGtools folder.
    • You should attach all of your logs to one message after you have completed all scans.
    • Be patient after posting your logs and wait for one of the helpers to get to you. It can take a while to read thru all of the logs and to create individual fixes for you.
    • Also DO NOT BUMP your thread to try and get a faster answer. This will actually significantly delay getting an answer. See this: Don't Bump! It Only Hurts You!!!
    Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

    Please use add/remove programs to uninstall:
    Java(TM) 6 Update 16
    Java(TM) 6 Update 2
    Java(TM) 6 Update 3
    Java(TM) 6 Update 5

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    * If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::
    File::
    c:\documents and settings\van t. ensworth\local settings\application data\hsmmcjbke\hevkvd.exe
    c:\documents and settings\janey ensworth\local settings\application data\wufevk\tfniei.exe
    c:\documents and settings\janey ensworth\local settings\application data\tgrgkl\yxofxp.exe

    Folder::
    c:\documents and settings\van t. ensworth\local settings\application data\hsmmcjbke
    c:\documents and settings\janey ensworth\local settings\application data\wufevk
    c:\documents and settings\janey ensworth\local settings\application data\tgrgkl

    Registry::
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentVersion\Run]
    "oqfhwkjqfqxu"=-
    "uogskwnriisb"=-
    "yaaldgwuykieq"=-

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    If it asks you to overide the previous file with the same name, click YES.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now download and install:
    Java Runtime 6

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\ComboFix.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    HI Tim , thanks so much for this . I really appreciate it. It is so nice to know that there is a trustworthy place to come to for help with stuff like this :)

    I was fixing this issue for my father-in-law , but he needed to use his computer urgently and seems to have gotten tired of waiting for me. when i went to thier house today he had taken the computer to be serviced, so unfortunatley i will not be able to try the solution you have given .

    I was enjoying trying to solve this (stangely !) and was looking forward to the satisfaction of using your solution to kill this malware!! , sorry we can`t complete the process. thanks again for your help , and sorry for taking up your time. it wasn`t wasted tho, as i now know what to do and were to come for help next time.....
