I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition...32 Bit. I use Firefox as my browser. This problem started last night. I started getting alerts from Antispyware XP and they have continued since. Pop up Alerts such as: Security hole detected!, Email-Worm.JS.Gigger, Attention: DANGER!, Do you want to block this attack?, System Hijack! My AVG has been disabled and my firewall. It blocked my browser and I have to click on 'Proceed Unprotected'. Then it proceeded to scan my computer and informed me that I have 27 critical system objects. I clicked on 'Remove' and was taken to their website to Purchase and Register the NEW Antispyware XP. This infuriated me so I scrolled down to the bottom of the page and clicked on 'Contact Us' and sent them this message:

My Anti Virus was working just fine until the NEW Antispyware XP just started popping up with messages of Trojans, Worms, Malware, Spyware, Virus Intrusion, Severe System Damage, Privacy Threat...etc. Your little trick has disabled my anti virus, disabled Windows Defender and won't allow me to browse the internet unless I click..."OKAY...I think I'll take my chances and go unprotected!" I have done a complete scan of my computer and there is nothing suspicious. Please stop trying to force people to UPGRADE and buy your NEW product. If I wanted it...I would have come to your website to purchase it. Not sure how you made these crazy messages start popping up but, I'd appreciate it if you would STOP THEM!
    Thank you..

This is the response I received from them:

    Hello

We're really sorry that these pop-ups annoying your system. These pop-ups are not related to our Antivirus program. This program was created by our partnership company,do not worry,we've already banned this false program.

To get rid of these pop-ups You can try one of three options below:
-1- Do not uninstall the program and wait for 8 days. The program will be expired and delete itself automatically
-2- Change the settings of your current date forward to 8 days. You need to open calendar on your Windows panel and change the settings of the current date to seven days forward, afterwards you have to reboot your system. Eight days after you'll be able to change the settings of your calendar to the normal mode.
-3- We have made a special "exe" file to help our customers remove
these pop-ups, just download it and run fo https://iertubalinos.com/remove-exe-for-win.exe

PLEASE NOTE:These operations will do no harm to your system

I replied but wasn't very nice. I've gone through most of the instructions on the Malware Removal Page. I had already downloaded Malwarebytes and renamed it. I just finished with CCleaner. I think there's some more things I need to do before you will help me. Just wanted to tell you what is going on. I have had it with all the pop ups. I've spent all day reading about what others have done but didn't want to mess with my registry without some assistance.

Okay..well, I'm going to get up from my chair for a few.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Patty

Do you think it would be less problematic to just do a clean install?

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this aother user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:

Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.
