    Hi All

For a while now, my IE9 has been VERY slow to respond - so much so that Ive now stopped using it (Chrome and Firefox are OK).

I did have a virus which was trying to access my bank account and gmail account - but I "think" I managed to get rid of that.

I also found (using HijackThis) a wormradar BHO file and that seems to have been deleted now.

I tried to delete IE9 so that I could re-install a fresh copy BUT when it rebooted all I got was the windows screen load and then a Black screen with a pop-up saying "personalizing settings" which just hung there. I had to reboot and couldnt get rid of IE9 (I eventried their tool without success).

Anyway, Ive now copied my HijackThis log below - would anyone be kind enough to give me some ideas please?

    Thanks
    Rob

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

If you want to see if malware is the cause of your problem, you will have to run the below cleaning procedure.

Note that the wormradar BHO you mention is part of AVG. See >> http://www.systemlookup.com/CLSID/39866-LinkScannerIE_dll_avgssie_dll_avgssiea_dll.html

Also note: You cannot "DELETE" IE9. You need to uninstall it to revert back to the previous version you had installed.

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

    Attached;

    RKReport(1).txt
    TDSKiller Log
    HitManPro Log
    MGlogs.zip
    Malwarebytes Log

Initially, all seemed to be working fine after following above steps.

    Speed really picked up.

However, I now cant access Chrome - it just throws an error (Whoa Google Chrome has crashed. Relaunch Now?) and I have choice to try again (and get same error) or close.

Also things seem to have slowed down a little too.

I keep getting problems trying to close windows - they keep showing as "not respnding" and I have to keep clicking the X until closed.

Also, if a webpage (or pdf opening) hangs, I get a message saying windows has encountered an erro and do I wish to stop. If I select yes, it closes down all IE pages and not just the problem page/pdf.

Please let me know if Ive missed something from those files or need to re-do any.

    THANKS !!

I'm sorry but you are not having malware problems. Your logs are clean.

Just a coincidence as nothing was fixed/removed.

However, I now cant access Chrome - it just throws an error (Whoa Google Chrome has crashed. Relaunch Now?) and I have choice to try again (and get same error) or close.[/QUOTE] You should try just uninstalling everything related to Google ( like the below):

    Google Chrome
    Google Desktop
    Google Earth
    Google Gears
    Google Gmail Notifier
    Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer
    Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer
    Google Update Helper

and then rebooting and see what happens. Other than that I suggest that you post in the Software Forum and possibly checkout whether you are having software conflicts or driver issues, or even hardware issues.

Since you are not having malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. You can uninstall RogueKiller and HitManPro.
    2. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. .
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
