    Hello,

Before I start this ~ thanks to all for the future help in this matter.

I have dealt with this same son-of-a-gun before and was able to get rid of it with antimalware. At the time, I was able to install the program and run it off of a usb stick. This time however ~ when I try to install it off of the usb stick it will not allow me to copy or run it because of very clever reasons such as... "Acess denied", "cannot access the specified drive" "check that drive is not full or write protected".

Also...upon checking the processes in the task manager there is a whole slew of new (foriegn) processes that look highly suspicous!!! I'm hoping that once I can kill off the red shield problem I'll be able to chase off the rest of these too.

Also ~ upon installing antimalware on this laptop (thank goodness for it) ~ when I try to run it on THIS computer it crashes with the whole "Windows encountered a problem and must close". But at least its running, and I can deal with the laptop later....

I'm sure you've all heard it all before...
I have read the read me first, and will poke around this site for a solution to this "revised" version of the red shield/white cross problem. Thing is I have an autistic child who eats drinks and sleeps on the internet...his patience is NILL and trust me...I need to figure this out quick!

BUT if someone could help point me in the direction of any specific threads at this site that could speed up the "search and destroy" process for this new development off the white X problem...it would be so greatly appreciated!!

    ~ Tonya

    Guess what?
The laptop is now infected and I'm afraid to keep it online. I'll have to find another computer and differant ip adress to continue any further here.

    I'll be back!

    Later ~ Tonya

Not trying to bump this thread.
Just don't want to waste your time with a reply yet!
I believe I've found the fix thanks to my Dad!!!
I'll post a link of the details should this work out!!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this aother user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:

Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.
